Here’s another occasion for us to spread the word -with solid arguments - about the state of “the free” on the web .
We see LifeHacker.com - one of our Favs - not only as a top weblog, but mainly as one of the leaders in supporting and giving the the earned importance to Open Source softwares , projects or philosophy . Due to its popularity we take all LifeHacker surveys for granted .
This one - bringing a few thousands answers to “ what free software you’re most thankful for ? ” - is another confirmation , with no major surprise , of the consacration ( and the usefulness ) of these already “big names” among the free products .
We take this opportunity to express our gratitude too - like LifeHacker did on the Thanksgiving Day ocassion - to “ALL developers of ALL the free software … in gratitude for all the things your work enables us to do every day “
So here’s another “guide list” about the must-have free computer/internet products. Check it out and make sure that you’re using ALL of them ! ( otherwise you’ll never know what you’re missing
)

I like Mozilla products - both FireFox and Thunderbird email client. But Opera browser drives me crazy and stands no close to FF! I’ve installed v9.52 when it was released and the problems began immediately. Often it shows error “URL not found” - for microsoft and google, cnet and other websites which just cannot be down. Opera freezes with no apparent reasons or simply self-closes. The built-in torrent support is glitchy. Sometimes Opera cannot restore the tabs which were opened before the crash. And I’m sure my system is stable & clean - a fresh install of XP SP3 and avast! Home Edition + SUPERantiSpyware guarding me from web threats, Tallemu firewall. I can’t help but wonder how Opera guys managed to sell their product when it wasn’t free!
