VoxOx – 120 Min ( Or 1200 Min or Unlimited ! ) Free VOIP Phone Calls Everywhere
That’s it ! The moment when phone calls (finally) become free on Internet is (almost) here. Skype VOIP acclaimed service has already started it but the PC-to-phone calls are not not free.
The buzz in on the net! VoxBox - the software developed by Telcentris a San Diego telecom provider - has launched the public beta of their web-based “ first universal communicator”. Why universal?
Because it combines the benefits of VoIP solutions, interoperable IMs, Web services and social networking aggregators, and much more at no cost to the user.
Our target is to reveal the important “for free” opportunities that occur on the web. So we’ll not talk about VoxOx paid services, but we underline the fact that there are already a number of websites offering 1200 free minutes for VoxOx calls, if you register as their “invite”.
“The first 500 users to sign up for VoxOx through XXXXXX will receive 1,200 minutes of free calling to U.S. and Canada phone numbers. The 1,200 minutes equal 1,200 ‘Vox Points.’ These Vox Points are also redeemable for international calls at varied rates. Vox Points do not expire, and in coming months, Vox Points will also be redeemable for free gadgets, such as a Bluetooth headset and ATA box.”

Although almost everything worked smoothly when we’ve test it , before starting you should be aware of :
- This is their first public beta version. Some malfunctions are conceivable and there are also many other features lacking for the moment (but planned for the next year);
- VoxOx currently supports Windows and Intel-based Macs with rapid extension plans for PowerPC Mac , Linux and mobile platforms ;
- VoxOx offers 120 free minutes of call time to all registrants at the U.S. rate and a free U.S.-based phone number;
- VoxOx’s API is open source, buit in a “allow plug-in” architecture, in order to encourage developers to bring more features and improvements;
- VoxOx needs approx. 70 megs of free space on your drive and at least 1,0 GB RAM of memory. A simple phone call will use at least 90 MB of RAM. Running multiple tasks may “eat” 200.
- Important! We’ve managed to register with ease Monday Nov 3rd but it seems that Tuesday the server crushed (“sorry, the server made a boo boo”), due to the “invasion” of registration requests (after the important internet buzz). Nevertheless the communications are working normally, at least for us since we have been able to call in different countries.

Why do we say that you can even get unlimited phone calls? Because beside the initial 120 free minutes and the “donated” 1200 free minutes (from above) … You can earn 120 “Vox Points” for each friend you sign up (the invite option). And more, once you run out of friends, it seems that you can opt-in to watch ads and take surveys before being connected to the dialed number.
