1. Go to this Request Free Licence Page and write your email address .
2. Check your email Inbox and find a message from Ashampoo ( IN GERMAN ! ) and access the confirmation link .
3. By clicking that link you’ll arrive on your personal Ashampoo account page . Chose the english language from the upper part and access the free licence key section . 
There you can see/copy your licence key . If you check again your email address you can find the same key in a new email message from Ashampoo .
3. Download and run winoptimizer_5_510.exe from Chip.de Promo Page . Choose english when the installation wizard first opens … And don’t forget to paste your licence key when you’re asked to do it .
The latest official Version is 5.11 ( 01/15/2009 ) . Downloading directly from Ashampoo site and using your licence key should work too .

Ashampoo don’t accept Hotmail adress as an e-mail if you would like to get to use their programs and you can not contact them. No e-mail on their homepage only an web-form for communication, and this web-form do NOT accept Hotmail-addresses. BAD policy from Ashampoo. I should not have to get another e-mail only to satisfy this strange rules from Ashampoo. I wonder what Ashampoo do if a PAYING customer want to use an Hotmail-address?? Well we never know, Ashampoo is not to let you contact them and people that have an other e-mail-address, why should they care??

You can always contact Ashampoo from your personal Ashampoo account, after registration.

I also have the same problem with ALL AShampoo and using my HotMail. This is not just limited to any free or shareware programs, it appears to be everything. I tried buying a DVD editing/burning program from AShampoo a short while ago and could not due to the HotMail issue, so I simply went elsewhere and paid half the price for a similar program. (I have since reverted back to Nero 6 after trying versions 7, 8, 9 & 10, but this is an unrelated issue). If AShampoo, or others, insist on this email protocol, Í will not even bother looking at their products, free or not, good or not. My only other email address is a business one, spam free and securely monitored, and it shall remain that way. OOPS, Getting a bit gruff. : -D
It is a professional-looking application with an easy to understand interface.
It provides a fast way to optimize your pc .
You can run a quick or a full scan from the Overview tab.
I had only 445 MB that could be deleted after the full scan.
It suggested that 2 programs should not automatically start at startup because they are using too much resources.
I would suggest that you peruse the items that are listed after a scan so that you can deselect those areas that you do not want to be deleted or changed.
The backup does however make it possible to undo critical mistakes.
It does what the developers purport it to do.
This application is definitely a keeper.

This is a great utility that I would recommend to anyone who wants to clean up their PC. One interesting thing that this tool found is that I had 5 GB worth of restore points. It offers to delete every restore point except for the most recent. 5 GB is a lot for me. I also like every little feature on this utility. The 1-click maintenance is a helpful tool if you’re on the go. I really like this product. Thanks for the share!

Thanks for Ashampoo WinOptimizer ver 5. I’ve run into a confusing problem. You state the latest official version is 5.11, and the key will work with either the download from Chip.de or directly from Ashampoo. The Chip.de version is 5.10 (16MB). The Ashampoo direct version is 5.13 (10MB). Does the older Chip.de version have more features that the Ashampoo version, or is it just bloat? I downloaded and installed both versions, and at first glance they seem the same. The key works with both as you stated.

A lighter installer doesn’t always mean a less featured application.
We must find the time to try the latest V 5.13 and compare with V 5.10.
But I wonder what’s stopping you to do that ?

for those people that only use hotmail, it’s inconvenient but Ashampoo must have their reason to choose not to deal with such ISP, personal experience big corporation usually have their rules, it would consider a hassle if you need to compliant sometimes. my suggestion is use another domain(free one of course) if the software is a good one, it’s just a communication tool. ps. Have you consider you would lost all your email if you only use hotmail ? (I’ve have 2 experience been shutoff access and force migration), don’t bet all eggs in one basket

I use yahoo and never have any problemo’s. Anyway i think winoptimiser is a great program. It lets you change all the settings windows doesnt want you to change. Also, every move you make is backed up so you dont have to worry about fouling things. You can just undo what ya did. Its cool.

Simply Brilliant!!!! I was trying to download WinOptimizer5, from other freebie sites, wasn’t working.; the same Run Time error message kept coming up. I’d settled for WinOpt4. Here, no compromise, no ’settling’….. I think your reputation as ‘as first hand freebies “diggers’ is certainly well deserved and intact.

I have to say, I don’t know which one I like best. Winutilities is definitely on of the best but I also like Tuneup utilities with their Winstyler. Might as well keep both, what one can’t do the other will. Only 1 program to download is so much better than downloading a bunch of software to do these things individually.

I got my free full version key for Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 via e-mail in German. But the link led me to an all German web page & I never did find a D/L to click for Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5. Can someone provide a simple link to an actual D/L for it? Sorry, I don’t speak German.
