Unfortunately both Special Promo Page and Registration Page are in french. Just use Google translate if you don’t understand ( although we doubt it - the terms are similar with the english ones )
1. Go to the Special Promo Page and click on “Inscription” ( right bottom side )
2. You’ll arrive on the Club Avanquest Registration Page asking for your email address , first and second name and country. You may tick or not the last case asking if you want to receive the newsletter.
Hit “Valider et Telecharger le Logiciel” meaning “Submit and Download the Software“
3. That’s it ! You’re now on a download page where you can already read the registration serial no. You’ll also receive an email message containing the same information.
Download ( again - “Telecharger” ), install and don’t forget to register!
UPDATE : After installation, delete all the “.fra” files from C:\Program Files\Visagesoft\eXPert PDF\Resources … And the program will revert to English.
The shortcuts will still be in French. Simply rename them!

Good program for those who warks with PDF on dayly basis. But i will let it pass because i rare use PDF format and if i need some job to be done by any chance-there are many free sites that can perform online any task this program offers . Still it is a quality prog, thanks for posting it.
How did you get the user interface to display in english? I haven’t yet found a way to switch from french.

Thanks for the update. This is a really great program to get for free. Now that I’ve removed the .fra files, the interface for eXpert PDF Editor is in english, but the Creator program is still in french. I can use it that way, but if you have another quick fix that would be great. Also, do you know if there is any way to find help files in english? In any case, thanks for the great program; and keep up the good work!!
Does it support creation of Unicode (i.e. multiple world languages incl. indian languages) content?
By the by, I take this opportunity to thank and wish all the nice hearts (who run for-free-on-internet) for their tireless efforts.
When I run this program, I get a Windows Installer window that lists Install Options, Display Options, Restart Options, and Logging Options. Are these commands that need to be entered in command prompt? I have never seen this before, but I have only been working with computers for the last two years. I am guessing that this may be an old program that used this type of command structure for installation. Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what I need to do to perform a standard/default style installation? Thank you very much for your help.

this time did not work. It failed to install on some ‘AlwaysCheckifDefaultReader’ procedure. Downloaded twice, tried to install several times (normal and as administrator) and nothing.
Is this Vista compatible?

I just received an e-mail from Avanquest with the download option in the e-mail, and since I didn’t have any luck with the download from the website as I mentioned above, I tried the download through the e-mail and this time when I ran it everything installed fine and I didn’t get the screen with what appeared to be commands to enter through the command prompt so you may disregard my prior e-mail. Thank you for your fine website.
I finally found the french files under: C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\expertpdf4.exe\french.cab. This file is 1.69 MB and when opened, there are a number of .fra files within it. I deleted the entire file and there was no change to either the PDF Editor or PDF Creator. I tried restarting the computer, but everything is still in french. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know. Thank you.

This version is vista compatible for sure as installed it on my brother,s PC (Vista Home Premium) in the twinkling of of an eye today.

It’s working fine on my XP Home Edition. Very professional tool for handling PDFs.
Looking over the screen shots on V6 ( Avanquest page ) I can say I’m impressed.
Hope you guys will soon find a free promotion for it !

That link contains both the help files in English instead of just one.
To get the help file in English, I ripped the English help file from an English version of PDF Pro 4. Download it by clicking here and save it in C:/Program Files/Visagesoft/eXPert PDF. You will be asked if you are sure you want to overwrite “expertpdf.chm”. Click yes.
Here are what the shortcuts should be renamed to:
* Accueil eXPert PDF = Purchase eXPert PDF
* Aide eXPert PDF = eXPert PDF Help
* Editeur de Filigranes = Watermarks Editor
* Editeur de paramètres PDF = PDF Settings Editor
* Serveur d’Impression eXPert PDF = eXPert PDF Creator

Just delete all files in Folder \Program Files\Visagesoft\eXPert PDF\Resources and You’ll eXpertPDF in english.
It should be noted that if you download the installer FROM THE WEBSITE, it does not work. Only the link IN THE EMAIL Visagesoft sends you actually downloads the correct installer.
A newer, “last”, version 4–as well as an archived version 5–are both available…free, no registration, in…English upon Visagesoft’s website, right? (As far as I can…tell–newer version number 4, and, newer by version…number 5, additionally, yes?) God bless…always!!

Maybe you should pay a bit more attention and see that those two versions on Visagesoft’s downloads archive are … TRIALS !!! You can ONLY MODIFY THE FIRST 2 PAGES !

I had installation problems (”AlwaysCheckifDefaultReader”, dll etc) on my desktop with expertPDF4 during reinstallation. It was cleaned up using Windows Install CleanUp facility.
Another way would be to upgrade to v6 and amend the registry manually.

For those having persistent reinstallation problems with v4, Ashraf of dottech.org has a more detailed solution
* Go into program files. See if there are multiple Visage Soft folders, like VisageSoft(!), VisageSoft(2). This should happen if you did a system restore like I did. Delete all the (1), (2), folders. Just leave the VisageSoft folder.
* Open up regedit. Go to HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-21-3023203539-2722991495-3821558887-1000/SOFTWARE/. Find the “Visage Software” folder. Delete it.
* Use RevoUninstaller to uninstall Visage Software.
* Reinstall eXPert PDF 4 Pro.
The upgrade to v6 solution involves exporting 2 registry keys in HKLM/… in v4 (before upgrade) and importing those keys (after upgrade to v6)

Well, I do the steps describe in this page, but when I go on the installer download page (ftp://ftp52.avanquest.com/pub/expertpdf4.exe), it’s require a username and password. I tried everything, but the site remains asking username and password. Is there another way to download the installer? (I already have the registration serial). Thanks a lot!
