ConceptDraw Professional 7, ConceptDraw PROJECT 4, Uniblue Disk Rescue 2009 Free Promotions ( update from Mike )

Hi guys !

We dedicate this article to mayur - a very fair person - who did not reveal our hot find ( 2/3 of it hehe ) on other websites, although we have confirmed his guess 2 days ago. An honourable person is hard to find nowadays, you must agree !

This HF 7 had the biggest delay ever. Not for technical reasons  but for some strategic ones. We’re trying to build the 4 Free community in a logical but also very clean way and we hope nobody can blame us for that.

As you can see we’re “rewarding” your patience with not one or two hot finds … But three!

We are kindly asking those who put our finds on other sites to be honest and credit us as their source.

You have all seen how the opinions in comments to HF 7 article were divided, so we have taken the best possible decision : to publish BOTH Uniblue Disk Rescue 2009 ( the defragger ) AND Conceptdraw Project 4 ( the project manager software ) . And we are adding the third one, maybe the most important : another promotion for ConceptDraw Professional 7.

Let’s start with this last one since it is maybe the most important and delicate one. Please remember the developer has chosen to shut down the other promotion we have found, when it became too popular.

We have already said that we are fans of Odessa’s high quality products and we use them daily in our real life’s activity.

So those who have missed it last time please go to this promotion page and register for a free licence key .

http://www.conceptdraw.com/registration/cd7special.php?iml_uk        ( copy and paste in your browser )

Click on “Register” and you’ll imediately be able to see your licence key in your browser. ( you’ll also get it by e-mail ). For the download links ( Windows and Mac ) and more details please read our previous article on ConceptDraw Professional 7.

Uniblue DiskRescue 2009 ( worth $ 24,95 ) “is the effective solution to the fragmentation of your hard disk. How to grab the free offer for Uniblue Disk Rescue 2009 ?

Go to this promotion page and just write down your name and an e-mail address.

http://ca.uniblue.com/   ( copy and paste in your browser )

Well if the developer accepts your registration ( :-) ) you will imediately receive an e-mail containing the downloadlink and the instructions for installation and registration. There is nothing special. The setup file is very small( 1,67 Mo ) and the installation and registration - very fast.

Maybe you will be interested by the notes in the bottom of the e-mail message.

“Please note:
This license code can only be used in the version of DiskRescue that you have received with this promotion.
This free version of Diskrescue includes 12 months of ActiveProtection - product updates and support.

SPECIAL OFFER! Upgrade to one of our other products and receive SystemTweaker free.”

As you can see in screen-shots we have tried this deffrager and - as a very superficial conclusion ( how unprofessional ! ) - we can tell you this : very handy , very fast , realistic results. Sorry for not having time to perform a comparaison with JK Defrag ( for example ). Maybe some friends will tell us more in comments.

After ConceptDraw MindMap 5 Professional and ConceptDraw 7 Professional you can get for free…

Official “Feature tour

Plan and track project tasks, resources and costs

Multi Project Workspace is extremely helpful to project managers when managing several projects to join several projects into one master project making all projects easier to manage because of the one vantage point. The Multi Project Workspace allows you to embed one project into another project with the entire task dependencies preserved along with the synchronization of any changes made in any associated document. In addition it is easy to quickly establish task dependences between tasks located in different projects.

Project view is an extremely helpful and powerful mode for multi-project planning. Project view allows you to control the list of projects, and assists the project manager by giving them flexibility when they are required to add, delete or edit projects.

Gantt Chart view is a graphical representation of a project that allows one to allocate tasks, assign resources and overview the project timeline in a simple bar chart format that can be easily understood by anyone.

Resource Sheet view contains the complete set of information for all resources (names, types, costs, etc.), and allows you to manage these resources over one or many projects.

Resource Usage view displays resource information regarding tasks assigned to each resource in all of the defined projects. The Resource Usage view allows you to plan and manage the contracting of human resources, which are assigned to the different defined tasks in each project. This is a powerful view that gives you better control of your resources.

Network Diagram analysis or PERT view is used to analyze the inter-relationships between tasks and to define the dependencies of each task. While laying out a Network Diagram you can analyze the logic behind the task allocation and identify down time.

Critical Path Management (CPM) - Critical Path analysis is used in conjunction with network analysis to identify the tasks that are critical in determining the overall duration of a project. You can use Critical Path management to supervise the progress of a project’s goals by setting task priorities and effectively allocating available resources.

Powerful Reporting System - The Report Wizard will help you generate comprehensive reports on project activities, cash flow and assignments. You can easily save your reports in any format that meets your purposes: HTML reports ‘to share information with stakeholders via Internet; Excel format - to use project data for accounting systems; RTF reports ‘to use in required documents and reports.

Customize and adjust workspace for smart work

Smart Multi-Selection - Smart multi-selection permits users to manipulate several tasks at once, this dynamically speeds up the project planning process. Select multiple tasks, resources or projects and manipulate them using Drag and Drop, floating dialog or Copy and Paste.

Information Sorting - Task, project and resource sorting is essential for quick navigation in a project. Task sorting is the fastest way to find a desired resource or to group tasks based on their cost, date or state of completion.

Filters Toolset - A powerful filter wizard allows you to create simple or complex filters based on a set of user-defined conditions. You can apply filters to tasks, resources and even projects to hide all unnecessary information and focus on desired results and tasks.

Timescale Control - The keyboard and mouse buttons combination ‘Ctrl-Wheel-Scroll’- allows you to do a ‘time-zoom’ It permits you to change the timescale in any manner that your project requires.

Columns Customization - A wide set of features provides user flexibility in designing the workspace, you can easy modify columns with Column Customization Dialogue capability, and hide unused columns.

Organize effective environment of project communications

Capture Slides - Create MS PowerPoint presentations for project review sessions and team meetings. Choose representative data manually, creating and organizing slides directly in ConceptDraw PROJECT and then save the result as MS PowerPoint file.

Microsoft Project compatibility - ConceptDraw PROJECT is compatible with Microsoft Project gives you the ability to exchange files with users of Microsoft Project and other project management applications, which support the Microsoft Project XML file format.

Export to PDF - Use PDF export to create compact platform-independent documents that contain project schedule or resource allocations and can be freely viewed on any computer.

Cross-Platform Capability - ConceptDraw PROJECT supports both Macintosh and Windows, all documents generated by ConceptDraw PROJECT can be freely exchanged between the platforms.

We would very much like to apologize ( to friends like MikesNote and not only ) for not having the time to write about the promoted  softwares like we use to do before (  compairing the differences between versions , alternatives, etc … ) The lack of time is killing us ! Sorry guys !

But now our team is much more important ( + 100 REAL active team mates ! ) and we can all learn interesting things from the feedbacks in comments. Please use the comments to talk about the softwares we find ! Thank you !

Hope everybody you will enjoy the free softwares !

UPDATE : Like usual MikesNote is generously sharing a few informations on CDPro7 and CD Project4. This is his comment:

“Great Hot Find!  With ConceptDraw PROJECT 4, I now have all 3 components of ConceptDraw Office, having picked up ConceptDraw MINDMAP 5 Pro and ConceptDraw PRO 7 in earlier giveaways.  Haven’t had much time to play with them, but do have a couple of comments that may be useful:

ConceptDraw PRO 7
:

To anyone who didn’t get this before it was shut down last time, I highly recommend you get it now.  The graphics libraries are superb and very extensive.  And you’re missing half the features if you think this app is just for flow charting.  Check out the templates and samples for landscape and garden design, house and office plans, cafe and restaurant layouts, electric circuit diagrams, maps, business forms, parts and assembly drawings, website layout planning, and much more.

At ~170 MB download and ~410 MB installed with all optional components, this is 80% of the suite, mostly due to its extensive sample and template libraries.

ConceptDraw PROJECT 4
:

I wasn’t sure at first if I needed this.  Then I remembered reading that it can exchange data with ConceptDraw MINDMAP.  You can turn a mindmap into a project Gantt chart for action (use the “Open in ConceptDraw Project” button on MINDMAP’s toolbar), or turn a project into a mindmap for further brainstorming (use the “Open in ConceptDraw MINDMAP” button on PROJECT’s toolbar or drag the saved project file onto MINDMAP’s window).

I’m not sure if the help for the individual apps says much about this interfacing, but you can download a copy of the ConceptDraw Office Manual from their website which goes into a lot of detail on this (use the same link as jenggot’s learning center above).  Just be aware that the manual is for the latest version, so some things may not work.  For example, I couldn’t get the manual’s copy/paste technique for opening a project as a mindmap to work.  The manual also talks about moving specific data between apps, generating project reports as mindmaps, and editing reports made with PROJECT in PRO.  Again, I don’t know how much of this works in the older versions as I have not tested all of it.

PROJECT also has a lot of templates for generating project reports in html, Excel, or rtf formats, and can also generate PowerPoint slides.  The app would not only be useful for project teams, but also managing individual projects especially if you are a freelancer.

PROJECT is by far the smallest app of the suite at ~14 MB download and ~23 MB installed, so I went for it.

Getting started:

The best way to see what these 3 apps can do is to look at the extensive samples provided by each.  Open the app, then File > Open, and navigate to the Samples folder which is located in the directory where you installed the app.  (If there is no Samples folder, either you selected the Custom install and de-selected the samples option, or you did the default install and it didn’t include the samples.  In the latter case, re-install using the Custom install.  I used the Custom install but I think the samples are probably also installed under the default install.)

In PRO, you should also explore the Template Gallery which usually opens when the app is started, or can be accessed from the File menu.  There you can check out all the available graphics widgets in the huge library.”

Thank you Mike !

Hi guys. I wanted to check up with Uniblue Disk Rescue, received a key within seconds but the problem is when I try to install it I get this all the time: “Downloading of installation data from the web has failed. Please make sure you are connected to the internet”. I have the fastest internet connection possible and can,t understand what is wrong with it. Anyway, I was able to get Paragon Defragger earlier so I am not much disappointed. I wish all friends fast downloads and successfull installations. Cheers!

Hi Dave ! I have checked again at it works for me.
I was counting on your feedback like usual. It’s a shame!

This is as COOL as it can be!! I had missed ConceptDraw Pro the last time since I found your website/community a bit too late.

The last HF was also published during first half of a Monday (US pacific time). Is this just a coincidence, or could I use to predict when will the next HF be published once it is announced?! :-)

    1 point
Hi Alok ! We knew you’ve had CD Pro on your wish list. very happy for you!
You won’t believe me but we have promised to never announce a HF on a Friday. Older members know that! It’s just a coincidence so don’t count on it.
If you download and try any software don’t forget to give us a quick feedback, please!
    Thank you!

    @Editor
That,s not the case, I just noticed long ago that I have problems with some programs while installing (specially if they are microsoft connected) , it is probably due to my using wireless.
As I said it is not a big deal, had I really needed it I would install it by any means. I am the user of their Driver Scanner 2009 and can tell you that Uniblue is not completly honest developer, only after my paypaling had they informed me that I can use it for 1 year only. And to be completly honest their Driver Scanner is not of high quality.

    2 point
Hi again Dave! I have no special relation with Uniblue but I think they are clearly stating the 1 year validity.

It’s the usual situation for driver scanners , if I’m not wrong.
As for its quality I can’t speak as I have never use it.
Thank you for the information anyway!

    I’ll come back with feedbacks after installing. ( 2 from 3 )

Thanks, guys. We couldn’t ask for a better giveaway than that! CS Odessa makes good stuff, so getting two of their products makes it extra-special.

I didn’t even know they had a project planning package. MS Project has grown way too complex over the years, I’m looking forward to see if this is more usable.

Honestly I did not see such a thing (you displayed ) when I was buying it in the middle of february.
Actually I had webcam drivers problems and followed the link from download.com. May be just simply missed it, anyway I never liked “Micro$oft Golden Sertified” partners and from now on will try to avoid using their super professional programs. Though others can find Uniblue products excellent, then again it depends on personal preferences. See you.

Uniblue DiskRescue downloads intact, installs well (be patient at the end; it will eventually finish), and works as described. It won’t allow files/folders to be placed at the start or end of the partition, like some programs, which can be a useful feature. THANK-YOU!

However, don’t like the Uniblue company. The software works, but an earlier encounter with its registry cleaner makes me feel that its promotion tactics bother on the dubious.

    Hi guys…
Wow… You guys (4Free team) always shock me up.. hehe :)

DL and installed fine on xp (uniblue diskrescue2009).
    But I prefer to choose smart defrag (iobit) which is free for a few reasons;
    1. Have 3 opt (defrag only, fast optimize and deep optmize)
    2. Auto Defrag (automatic defragmention while system idle)
    3. A battery power setting for laptop users
    4. An opt to turn off comp after the defragmention

I’m going to check the others two :) … Thanks.

This HotFind really ROCKS! I already had CS Odessa’ s ConceptDraw MindMap from a previous promotion, so now, if I understand it right, I have all 3 component of Odessa’s CD Office suite. Thank you so very much for this multiple offer, since I am planning to put all of it to good use, including the Uniblue Disk Rescie defragger. which I will compare to another one or two that I have in various utilities packages, and then I will let you know how it fares as soon as possible. I also appreciate the email notification which alerted me to come back tonight. Keep it up please.

I already have Concept Draw 7 Pro, which is a very good alternative to Visio, if you need an application for diagramming then this is it at the right price.

Whoops hit he wrong button, to continue UniblueDisk rescue installed nicely on XP SP3 and scanned through 10 Gig of data and found many fragmented files, even after Windows defragmenter, it defraged in a fairly fast time too! ConceptDraw Project4 is a nice alternative to Microsoft Project, great to have a Project Application that i can run on more than 1 PC, great that it can import and export to Microsoft Project XML, so i can switch between both programs, between work and home.

of all, I prefer the uniblue, as it defrags faster than the original attached software from windows.

    Hi guys!
I’m impressed by your finds. I was lucky to have CDPro7 from your earlier find so I grabbed the other two. CD Project4 is a great complement to CD Pro7 and Mindmap5 . I’m excited to have this great tools.
One word on Uniblue DiskRescue 2009: I like it . It’s faster than any defragger I’ve tried and it is doing a great job. Surely not a professional tool but I’m far from being a pro :-)
    It’s a keeper for me .

Wow,this has been fantastic for me.I missed out on Concept Draw so when I saw it was available again,I DL asap. There was a slight hiccup with the DL as it broke connection after about 90% but this may have been due to the traffic on the site. However, the second time I tried it DL went perfectly, though a bit slow.Registration was a breeze, and now I have decided to get the Project and the Mindmap to complete the suite.I also took advantage of DL the ‘Office Suite manual’ while on the site which is very helpful.I have only played around with it a bit, designing gardens but it works very well on my XP SP3.
Thanks guys for a nice gift.

  54. 28 April, 2009

    Hi there,
As always stunned by Your work so I’ll just cut to the chase..
Blue seemed like a nice defrag first time I run it. It was actually defragmenting files other programs couldn’t so I was impressed but..
although it says it defragments them and in end log I could see that all fragmented files where defragmented that actually doesn’t happen. Fragmentation still stays on same level and files are still in pieces. So it’s a nice piece of software but if I really want to get it done I’ll still need to use Smart Defrag+ JkDefrag.
PS. sorry but somehow Istill can’t find enough time to review all programs I sent You, maybe in few days..maybe.. ;)

    Keep it up! ;)

    3 points

Oh I forgot, I took a look at CD Project and at least interface looks a bit better than MS Project, but at the same time it’s exactly the same in case of presenting data. So all who are familiar with MSP shouldn’t have too much trouble using this application. Might come in handy when I’ll start making really advanced stuff ;P

I’ve been using JKDefrag which always seemed fairly fast. So after installing and activating DiskRescue without problem, I tried defragging a 27.4GB NTFS partition with 87792 files (14.6GB). This was highly fragmented (15.76% vol / 25.91% data) as I had never defragged it figuring it would take too long (how right I was). My CPU is an E2180 2.0GHz on XP. Using DiskRescue, defragging these 87792 files took only 5m 55s. Then, using JKDefrag, defragging took 55m 35s (That’s right, 50min longer!).. So my plan is to use JKDefrag for my relatively small 3.47GB O/S partition which needs repeated rapid access to relatively few files. But for my storage partitions where each file is accessed only occasionally, I will be very happy with the moderate defragging of DiskRescue.

DiskRescue always installs a service that runs on Automatic. I don’t appreciate programs adding to the processor load without giving the user an option, or even telling the user.

Fortunately, this is easily stopped, if you want, in the usual way you stop services. Run C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.msc .Then, look for the service “Uniblue DiskRescue”. Do Right-click > Properties > Startup Type > Disabled >Apply >OK.

Note that this service might be useful to continually run for some users. But this should be the user’s choice.

Uniblue DiskRescue looks like a good product, but needs internet access so it can install itself. (The installer seems to refuse to work without internet). Anyway I to this installed on an offline computer? (I can’t find an offline installer on their website)
Anyway a free alternative for this is smartdefrag from iobit, but I like the looks of Uniblue DiskRescue a lot more. I think the functionality is around the same… (but it’s hard to compare a free offline tool to an installer asking an internet connection…)

    2 points
Hi ! It’s true it needs internet access when installing. Not the only case, anyway.
Some might hate that some might accept if it comes from a serious company like Uniblue.

Thanks again for the defragger by Uniblue.
I dont trust Uniblue at all…long story, dont ask please.
I have deep freeze installed so that when I reboot any changes to files or installations are gone (works the same as returnil)..anyways I installed uniblue and allowed it access to the internet to download and install completely..I registered it and then I copied its program directory from the c drive and placed on another partition not associated with deep freeze.
Uniblue obviously does not write to the registry…just add it back to the c drive before running and you can use it as a portable app.

Concept Draw Pro 7 is a great utility. BUT, I have one major problem with it. After ‘mind-mapping’ I want to print. When I preview the print, it cuts off some words from random topics. Like “The dog is red” will be “The dog red.” It’s very annoying. But otherwise an awesome thing! Thanks!

Are you sure about that cut from random topics ? I’ve never encountered that problem.

This process is still working to get the ConceptDraw Professional 7 download and the necessary serial number in separate steps from links provided here and on the second page noted above. The download and installation went smoothly. When the program is first started, it indicates that it will be a 30-day trial unless the serial number from the other step is entered. The program itself is massive, with range of capabilities similar to Visio. This is a great value. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
