While working the hot find article and facing a huge lack of time, we have decided to propose a very simple exercise to all our regular visitors.
This more and more important lack of time has made us neglect a few important chapters of 4 Free. We are planning to reanimate all of them, one by one. Today we start with the “Latest Important articles On The Web“, one of the most important series.
Why very important ? Because we were trying to select important or interesting RECENT GENUINE INFORMATION, coming from serious sources. Maybe it was not always the case ( about the value of the information ) but it was a very useful exercise for keeping up with the news about the computer and internet life in general.
The community project is “eating” all our free time so we are proposing to all our readers to start putting in comments links to the articles they have are appreciating as VERY INTERESTING during the last week ( 13 - 19 April ).
ONLY ONE LINK PER READER PLEASE !
You must be aware that there will be a severe “quality filter” from the 4 Free Team. Like in the giveaway wishes case, all proposed articles will “appear” under XXXXX in comments … BUT those we consider real important will be published in updates to the articles list on the main post ( the one you’re reading right now , in this week’s case ), crediting the friend who suggested it.
The participats will have to trust our goodwill . Also they’ll have to put responsable comments if they want to share IMPORTANT INFORMATION … And not “innocent” links to some copy-cat blogg ( like those we are X-ing everyday in comments ).
These are the other “conditions” an article must fulfill :
- Related to “the free” ( news or tips on freewares , important “how to”s , free web services, etc … )
- Very important news not-related to “the free” but concerning many computers and internet users.
- The site publishing the news should be a serious one. No matter its traffic or fame size, the site should bring genuine information and work. The “honesty aspect” is very important for us ( crediting their sources, professional reviews and attitude, etc … )
Please don’t mind if we’ll not publish all proposals. WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE ! Be aware that we are the first interested to present to the community THE REAL “most important news”.
This series can become a important contribution of our community to the “free on the web cause” … If we all treat it seriously. It is also another tool we’re giving to the “silent ones” ( + 1200 readers coming here everyday but not participating ) to start saying “I’m here!”.
That’s it ! Keep in touch !

Thank you Kite but you should name the latest article which looks important for you , in order to propose it to the community.
That’s a great site and we’ll surely talk more about it with anoher occasion.

Hi Mayur ! Interesting enough ( though not very important ). Now you have shared it with all our readers ! Thank you!
This is a really good idea. Will see if I can find something of interest.
The link I have posted maybe of interest to some, I don’t know, but it is sad news for folks who cannot afford or tolerate Vista, definitely was not good news for me. Many software are still not Vista compatible, despite developers struggling to make them so, it is a buggy OS no matter what Microsoft says. Vista was gradually forced on users, many whose systems are built in with vista and cannot downgrade to XP as the manufacturers have deliberately made the systems that way. Lots of good freeware made by generous folks work only with XP but worked well, do not work for Vista and the users are honest losers at the end. I am not sure what the future looks like.

Hi Duster ! PUNCTUAL articles please. We want to focus on the LATEST NEWS. Otherwise this can become an uncontrolled encyclopedia . That site is great and we have oftenly talked about it .
Thank you !
This is NOT a recent article, and this is not related to technology if you care. Nevertheless, I found this to be a very interesting study of what makes a human face beautiful. The relevance of this article would stay as long as the humans stay the same, and that’s why articles like this never become old.

Sorry ! The subject is very good but this is not an article, but a post on a forum ( a good post indeed ).
The main problem I see with a post in a forum are the countless replies completing the post. The reader needs actually more that 2-5 minutes we usually recommend . ( although it’s on him to decide , just that we don’t encourage that)
I have put in the article the link to the Wiki.Mozilla page. Hope you don’t mind.
Or maybe someone will find a more complete article on this subject.
Thank you !
Figured would add another one, just in case someone else missed it:

Hi guys…not sure I have anything to say that will complete what it has already been said. However,it’s good to see that there are so many interesting articles out there that will help people…I just simply lack the talent that others have to find information that really helps others, and yet it hasn’t been already said. But i’m sure that some day I will find something that will prove useful. My best regards to you all.

Hi Z! Just be yourself and everybody will appreciate.
You’ll see that in the near future there will be at least 30-40 important articles on a weekly list. Just the time our friends will understand what’s all about and how important it is to share important news.

Linux is something that intrigues a lot of people and I have tried several ways of running it all of which had problems.
The way shown on this website is so easy it is almost unbelievable.
I have just installed and updated Ubuntu 8.10 in 3 hours, 1 hour for the downloads, 1 hour for the installation, 1 hour for the updates.
And you can still use your PC while most of this is going on. Regards.
