   Hi guys! My American client gave me a copy of this great software recently which he bought for almost $300. I use it to make videos that I post on different social sites. I feel sad for him since he spent a lot of money in getting this software. However, I’m happy that others will have the chance to use it even if it’s an older version.    Nice! I’ve used the free version before, but I’ve switched to Debut Video Recorder, another free screen recorder. I can’t remember why I did it, but there were probably some restrictions I did not like or that the quality of the product did not match up to DVR. But I’ll try this out and hopefully it’ll stay on my computer now. =)

   Already have this, Camtasia is a great application for creating recordings from the screen, i have used it to produce “how to videos” for software applications to end users, i highly recommend this, i do hope that version 5 will be available as a hot find, now that would be great. Thanks Guys.

    Hi, Looks like a winner, especially as it’s from TechSmith who also makes the impressive SnagIt which I installed from your Advent Calender hot find. I’d been thinking of trying this type of software for some time, so it’s timely.

    The download via the GHacks link was quick and easy.

    The PC Advisor registration chugged away for a minute or two, but came through the first time. The email with the key was instantaneous. I didn’t have to use UK as the country.

    I actually downloaded, installed and registered Camtasia Studio 3.1.2 / 3.1.3 when it was originally offered in this same PC ADVISOR promo! However, I didn’t have much use for this software. So after 20 or so re-formats and Windows XP Home SP3 re-installs later, I simply forgot all about it.

    Thanks to the 4-Free team, I have obtained a new key just minutes ago. Never even expected to hear about it again, today … =-p

    Might as well try to nurture some interest this time [while I'm recuperating].

    Excellent companion to SnagIt 7, also a freebie from the same software company (and also obtained thanks to For-Free). SnagIt’s specialty is still screenshots, rather than video. There is some overlap between the two products.

    Camtasia Studio is a really nice professional quality product. It has all the extras. Thank you for this great find.
    If anyone is interested in Acronis True Image. it is now $9,99 after mail in rebate at Fry’s.com. I have been using True Image for a couple of years and it has saved me more time and trouble than any softawre product I have.

    Hey, and did You consider posting backup software? I’m just asking as this is not really qualified as hot find (offered since around a year ago) still it’s a great piece of software (doesn’t like Vista, but who does? )
    I’ve found a link to Camtasia offer but as You wrote it’s closed due to leak into the web..so maybe it would be good to offer second find? (if that is still valid) It would be shame to miss both.

    Thank You for the great software!

    Just installed Camtasia 3 and BB FlashBack Express and i personally like bb flashback because the recording’s are smother than Camtasia Studio. That could be because i have vista and aero enabled. Maybe the new versions of Camtasia work better in vista.

    I have installed Camtasia Studio 3 In Vista and it works fine i just wish the recordings were a little smoother like BB flashBack are.

    Nice find. Can’t think of a use for it myself, but am glad its hit the spot for so many 4Free-ers. It looks like a very professional tool, and its tempting to install it anyway, especially as there seems to be a hint of potential for a version upgrade in the future (like Expert pDF).     This is an excellent application. I got a reg code for this a couple of years ago, RIGHT before they discontinued the offer… This is the first time I’ve seen it on a freebie site since! The program is quite expensive… even at 50% off. Too expensive for me to upgrade.. It’s incredibly powerful. Unfortunately it’s also incredibly complex. Within a couple of hours you’ll be able to do basic recording and output, but there are tons of advanced features. Picture-in-picture, video-in-picture, call-outs, hot-buttons, navigations, built-in quizzes, etc, etc, etc…. There is a comprehensive help section but it is looooooonnnnnggg. In spite of it’s complexity, I recommend that everyone get a reg code while you still can. This application has no rivals!

    The same company also made Snagit. Snagit is for doing screen still captures and it top of the line. It’s less cost-prohibitive (latest is v9 at $50). So if you ever see it, grab it! I got an old version at the same time as CamtasiaStudio. Then upgraded for 50% off. -steve

    I’m a fan of Techsmith software and I use the latest versions for both Camtasia Studio and SnagIt .
    I remember this version 3 was a very stable one ( unlike V4 ) and I strongly recommend to grabb it for free.

    I haven’t gotten to really do much comparison, but here is what I have so far:
    1. Camtasia has a much better GUI
    2. Camtasia is a bit more straight forward and easily figured out on how to use it, mainly due to the GUI
    3. They both seem to be easy on system resources, but Camtasia did run a bit smoother when I had lots of things opened up.

    I haven’t gotten to check output videos or anything real important as I haven’t had a whole lot of time to play yet. But from what I can tell, they are both very close to each other in quality and performance but Camtasia is easier to use and work due to the much better GUI, more pleasurable to use as well. But what will mainly count for me is the video quality, whichever takes that win will be what stays on my PC and what I recommend to others from then on.

    This is awesome.
    It lets me capture the live streams at the wildlife sites I go to. Looks like it will let me make a whole production (combine multiple captures, etc.). Wasn’t sure this would be useful to me - but now very happy!

    I think you’re wrong about “Camtasia will give it for free themselves in the near future”. It’s a +$200 software even if it’s an older version ( perfect for Windows XP ).
    The best proof ?! They’ve just stopped this “not impressive old promotion”.
    For the rest : thank you for being honest. These are not “our promotions”, but promotions we are the first to find on the web. There are many others, already revealed on different sites.
    Wait and see our own promotions!

    I wish I could have written sooner, but real life doesn’t allow you multiple choices.

    1/ You were right betting I’d like this one…
    2/ You’d be even righter betting I’d like v5!
    3/ Actually I already grabbed this version in 2007 promotion…

    B.
    1/ To speak the truth I have no real usage of it, even if I think I won’t spend my whole life without needing screen recording.
    2/ The only times I needed to record my computer screen snagIt video recording capabilities were more than enough to me.
    (Useful to note SnagIt from the same company can actually do basic video recording; maybe some didn’t notice)

    1/ Although I’m still using XP and v3 is far beyond my needs, should I learn how to use camtasia, I’d prefer learning from a more up-to-date version (just a question of time : there is a learning curve… it’s quite annoying to spend time for a piece of software you won’t keep if you change computer)
    2/ I do not really know what are legal reasons that made you postpone v5 promotion publication. As it is online and expired, I can’t see in any manner why it would less legal regarding camtasia v5 than regarding v3 or pptminimizer ou odessa cs products…
    3/ The ConceptDraw Pro 7 affair made me think a little bit. Why the first time did the promotion disappear after 2 days and why is it still running now? Basically software companies need credibility and notoriety. You gain credibility by cover mount promotion in magazines: if you are distributed alongside with a reputed computer magazine, that means you are a trustworthy software seller. You gain notoriety thanks to the buzz over the web: an expired free promotion is an outstanding way to create buzz…
    4/ Now what happens if your promotional link buzzes when you are just about to release a cover mount operation in a magazine… You must remove the link, otherwise, it’s not fair toward the magazine editor, don’t you think ? I’m quite sure that’s what happened to concept draw 7 when you hot found it !
    The second time, you published a conceptdraw 7 promo link from a magazine operation. That fits…
    5/ Regarding Camtasia… obviously Techsmith doesn’t need much more credibility nor notoriety. Hence, the hot find link didn’t last long.
    Thanks to the buzz and backlink to here, techsmith guys know for sure from were the link leaked; they know you know for v5.
    I can see no other reason for delaying v5 promo link publication than this sense of decency that honors you.
    6/ Therefore, I understand the delay, but I do hope, should techsmith maintain the link, that you’ll publish it soon!

    Note that even Seb’s link did not work after a few hours and we have replaced it with a working one.
    We have to respect our legal counselor advices, regarding V5. Hard to believe Techsmith know about 4 Free ( we would be honoured ). The real web buzz is made by bigger websites … Most of them “forgetting” to credit us as their source.( imagine that some of these copycats are “qualified” for our pre-notification hehe )
