I had once used a trial version of this program. It is great, although I did not explore fully. Close to the best. My interest is only in HD AVCHD editing, so number of video applications is limited. Commercial alternatives include Sony Vegas and Pinnacle Studio. Never been able to find a good free software (Some like S.U.P.E.R. do the job but the user interface is too complicated) for this.
The big size of the download is not unexpected for this software.
The registration process was smooth. Noted a small difference. The screen 1.3 was different for me. There were no boxes to fill or check my name etc., but the check boxes (”software exclusive” ) were still there.

It’s a big download & a long install, then when it all set up there is another patch to download, install & restart. So it will probably take about an hour from start to finish to set up but it is well worth the wait!!! this is a quality bit of software with no other free alternatives to compare it to, for what it does.

Awesome job guys! I had an older version of this software that came with one of my camcorders. I am currently using Magix Movie Maker 10, but it does not allow for HD and this software does! Hopefully it will be able to compare in speed, other features(looks like it can from the list), and quality of the Magix software.

Has anybody else experienced promblems downloading this via Orbit download manager? Several times my download has failed and now I can’t restart as that I get the error message “You have already reached the retry limit.” Any help would be appreciated.

WOW what more can I say? This must be the promo of the year for those of us that edit video. It will be interesting to compare it with Adobe Premiere Elements, which I currently use for editing. CyberLink PowerDirector 7.0 Ultra gets good reviews, especially on toptenreviews.com, which gives this a ‘Gold’ award (and that’s only the Deluxe version, the Ultra is better). The instructions for getting the promotion are clear and complete. However, don’t try and rush through the process. Just one point re 1.4 - the code that you are looking for is in bold type about two thirds down the page linked to. I see that I will have to learn some German! Thank you people

This is a really great promo, installed and works well on Windows 7, i tried a quick edit of some movie clips and it is nice. I too had an issue with orbit downloader, so i just used FireFox and DownThemAll plugin to download it. I also had issues with the site not allowing me access to register and had to use a German proxy (IP filtering??), but got it in the end, thanks guys. P.S. i also saw the post on GOTD, but it seemed to get pulled down rather quickly, so missed the link, glad i got it here.

Ok I got it to work. I just did what Mario did and used firefox instead of orbit. I got it downloaded, installed, and registered fine. Apparently orbit and the download site have some conflict so for anyone planning to download, DO NOT use orbit. Thanks for a truely superb HF.

I’ve been using an older version of Pinnacle Studio Lite & Ulead VideoStudio that came with my Camcorder and Firewire Card, they’ve just about been adequate in getting the editing done without anything stunning, so will definitely attempt to grab this find, looks very promising on the GUI layout and features from the Cyberlink webpages.
This is definitely a great find, thanks to all involved, especially Ash, also I must thank you Ash on your honesty with regards to initially being made aware of the find by another reader of the GAOTD forums, thanks again!
If only there was a find for PowerDVD Ultra like this, it would be a free fall for all, here’s to hoping hey?

I had the same problem as Jonnyboy using orbit downloader - it’s a function of having too many streams. The site puts up with it for a while but finally boots you. I tried again without a downloader and it only took 10 mins, so unless you are on dial up, I wouldn’t bother with orbit.

I’ve had time now to try this and compare it to the ones I own, It’s better then Ulead 11 and Magix Video edit programs, with the possible exception of video pro X. that’s my 2 cents worth. I think this is a great one, thanks again:)

I have tried it and it works without any problems (even on my not so powerful older system). The interface is nice, and i like the many effects and the options for the picture in picture track. You can insert moving shapes cut out of pictures or movie parts. Seems like you can have a lot of fun playing around with this feature
Haven`t tried big projects (with hours of material) yet - if PowerDirector manages that kind of tasks as good as short video-clips, it`s really a top piece of software. In short: I like it, and recommend it for anyone who wants to edit videos easily.

WOW!!! Great job Ash & 4 free team! I followed your excellent directions and downloaded this. Took 2.5 hours with no downloader, but no problems. Installation was a little slow on my computer but the program is now updated & running fine. Can’t wait to learn more about what I’m doing (there’s a tutorial in the help section if anyone besides me wants to use it). It has an exciting interface & looks like loads of fun to use. BTW, your so called “broken” English is way better than many on the internet are using. You have nothing to apologize for in that area. Not sure if this would help someone learn a language but this site is free & very friendly for learning a new language. http://www.livemocha.com/

Well, downloading and installing did not take too long, but finding time to use the programme properly proved more difficult. But the first project is now burned complete with music, transitions, titles etc. and all so easily done. Having used an ad-hoc mix of photo story and movie maker for some time now it was great to be able to accomplish everything intuitively and with ease from within one programme. The huge range of options within the programme, with more available once you have set up your account on the website, will provide plenty of scope for playing for some time to come. A fabulous find, well done.
