We have already explained why we’re favouring the release of the found promotions that can be described as “hot”. It’s very logical anyway ! ( to talk first about the most important / interesting ones )
We really hope to be the previous plan A - a newer version of an important software you can already see on our outdated promotions list ! 
Like always we’re welcoming the 6 new active members qualified for the email HF pre-notification. ( among other + 180 friends )

We hope that all our readers have understood the reasons why we’re using the HF procedure, trying to give first access to our readers ( through the email pre-notification system ) :
- When the software found in a free promotion is very important …
- AND / OR no other sites ( or very few ) have mentioned the found promotion …
- AND / OR the download is very slow and it is advisible to be among the first to download …
- AND / OR a sudden popularity of the registration and download links will force the owners to stop the promotion.As always recently active members ( one simple Hello in the last 2 weeks ) will receive email notifications ( please be sure you are qualified for the pre-notification by simply sharing your software giveaway whises HERE ). You have seen that it’s always better to be among the first to register and download!

I agree with the majority so far … there are indeed several interesting titles on your outdated list that I would love to have, especially if you’re offering even later editions … you guys certainly do your best to make this one of the more interesting sites I feel I have to visit every day … thanks again for all your efforts!

Maybe because most of GOTD offers is not worth the hassle of downloading…
(Maybe only 15/20 apps a year are worth using and keeping…)

Imho the GOTD’s potfolio is beter this year.
It’s a logical follow up of the their concept’s success … But also a consequence of the general economical crisis.
I think we’ll see new software developers on GOTD , from those who did not need before the GOTD marketing solution.
Just my opinion.

Question: I am using another family member’s PC with Explorer 8 with text size set at “Larger” because of sight impairement. The letters on your site look HUGE and it is almost impossible to read the text. I set size back to “Medium” and everything looks OK although too small for this relative of mine who wishes to consult your site often. Is this something which can be taken care of at your end so that the user (member) can use a text size appropriate to her/his needs?
I did not know if this was the proper place to raise this question and I’d only be too happy to post it somewhere else if you tell me so.

The actul script ( WP theme ) we’re using has some bugs on IE, indeed.
Untill we’ll use the new script you can :
- use the same text size tools from another browser ( Firefox , Opera, Chrome ).
- use Windows magnifier or another similar software.

Just to sum it up for those not comprehending, both ‘For-Free’ & ‘GOTD’ are excellent places to get quality softwares for free when everywhere else one would have to pay. Of course either one is going to have plenty people have already or have no use for, but then along comes that day when they suddenly toss something you can’t live without. That is what makes the entire adventure worth it!

ANYWAY … For the moment 4 Free cannot be compared with GOTD.
GOTD is a professional site, a well oiled marketing concept. It already has a history and tradition.
We also have our own concept here on 4 Free , but the real thing is yet to come. Our project is COMPLEMENTARY to GOTD, not at all a competition.
Until then, like we always say, the best thing that happens on 4 Free is the community.

Just to keep my time well-used while waiting for this HF.
I don’t want to create some polemic about GOTD. I visit it everyday, I grabbed there some top-notch products : the sothink programs, flash decompiler trillix, wondershare quizcreator, BusinessCardsMx… and a few others).
But I wouldn’t speak about GOTD in such positive words as you do, guys…
As a matter of fact, I decided I would never post there again… I grab what I want and leave without even saying thanks. I don’t even take time to read comments posted there, as they are mainly inconsistent.
My comments were too often censored without any explanations, mainly because they were saying some bad things about the software/editor or giving free alternatives that were much better (and I explained why they were much better).
Their “customer” relationship is awful… when for whatever reason the service goes off, no explanation is given… Later a stupid blog post explained that the server was done, some maintenance was to be done, or it was holidays… I guess they think their visitors are totally dumb.
GOTD is a great site and a great concept. But speaking about a “professional site” and “well-oiled marketing”… I’m not sure…
Maybe that’s good marketing for software, but GOTD is popular because its product is free. Should GOTD actually sell something, they wouldn’t make a penny with their so lame “customer” relationship.
No fawning here, but speaking about marketing, you seem much gifted that the gotd guys… (now, if it turns out you are the GOTD guys - why not, you’re so mysterious ! - I’ll be quite ridiculous !)

We cannot be the GOTD guys . There are many proofs ? Our broken english, etc …
More : it looks like 4 Free is not very well seen by the GOTD moderators, after the crook episode.
That’s what you get when you tell the truth.
I’m sure it’s better for the business to keep the parasite and even encourage him … At least you have something to show to the software producers, if you see what I mean.
It’s too bad you have stopped your comments on GOTD, Franck. And - as an observer of GOTD from its beginning - I can tell there were many like you. You’re practically allowing those sick games by leaving. But it’s your choice anyway ! ( I know one should also have the pleasure to write a comment )
Now you can understand better why we are so careful with our comments section. We know what we have disliked on other communities and we won’t allow that to happen here.
Even “the clones” are civilised and talk about software on 4 Free , hehehe
And to close the subject: there is no comparaison for the moment. GOTD is waaay too big !
We still have a good opinion of GOTD. The web would have been a poorer place without it.
The main difference between GOTD and 4 Free is this: GOTD is a business - nobody will deny that.
4 Free is a private initiative for organizing a community of guys like you and me, trying to get more user-oriented free software deals.
It seems that there are more and more “guys like you and me” saying Hello on 4 Free !

I don’t want to stick my nose in other’s people business but I think Franck had a personal bad experience with GOTD .
You have to admit you’re comfortable now, when you’re only grabbig the giveaways you like, Franck.
That means you don’t like the comments part, but the GOTD’s concept is still bringing you great stuff.
I personally like GOTD and I wish to the friendly 4 Free concept to gain a similar popularity, which is huge I think.

Bonsoir! Now I am back (unlike Meetic)! I hope, my new computer works better than previous one. It was 2 yo and also two times - after-sales service! When 3. breakup happen (almost three weeks ago) they also understood, better give me new one or The III World War is coming….
I have very good feelings after Franck’s comments. For example, his Tune-Up comment was so good, I thought, don’t need copy and paste his comments as my own, because he already said all. And today, his comment was super! I want respect his honesty. As all, I am also looking forward to new HF! And finally, I have one very, very usable tool. I found it just because during the last three weeks I sit here at the table and thinking about how my computer works today. More information about this find tomorrow or on Monday. It is good tool for everyone!
