    Hi!
I found some interesting freeware program:
“Ekahau HeatMapper is a free software tool for quick and easy coverage mapping of Wi-Fi (802.11) networks. It’s the only free, easy-to-use tool that shows, on a map, the wireless network coverage in your home or small office. HeatMapper also locates all access points.”

    Hi Nikola!
Very - and I mean it! - VERY interesting subjects. Somebody should test them and write articles, but we don’t have the time for the moment.
Let’s keep the main article for news - 3rd parties well written articles about important/interesting news.

A (surely illegal) trick to get any lec translation (like power translator pro) for free…
An apparently very young guy (12 year old) found a way to enter their coupon management console. No hacking, it’s an unprotected url.
There you simplyu create a 100% coupon, and use it to grab everything for free.

That said, I’m not sure I’ll dare do such a thing.

    1 point
    Hi Franck !
So if it is obviously illegal, why should we advertise it ?
Perhaps like a counter-example to what we’re doing here. :-)
Thanks for letting as know so fast about that thread.

because it’s SURELY illegal, but it’s obviously stupid from the editor to let their serial algorythms unprotected.
I give the link here because I laughed a lot when reading that at Raymond’s freebies.

To speak the truth, I’m waiting some days to see if they will fix it. If not, I will consider they are seeking for buzz. And technically speaking, as soon as we agree that the editor is seeking for buzz, there is no more problem.
That said, the last TuneUp YouTube trick was not perfectly legal either… nothing to reproach to 4 free, but technically, the editor stopped giving serials away… The youtube serial was the same that the promo one, but, the editor is the only one to be entitle to distribute it… Correct ?

Anyway, you’re surely right, and some time is required to see how the editor will react.
    Cheers !

    2 points
Totally different situations, I’m sure you agree. That method can be called “fraud”, especially that you can access ALL the products LOL.( unless LEC agrees with that childish method. I strongly doubt it )
But I must admit you have a point regarding the keys distribution from TUU.
What you do not know is that this promo is 1 year old! So they’ve had all the time to stop any new registration with that public serial key.
More: the serial was still available THIS WEEK on an official web page.
All that made us understand they WANT to use the “old version giveaway” marketing tool.
On another subject: did you know that PC Tools was bought by Symantec ? ( we have already said it in an older article )
    Regards!

One year ? Sure it means something…
The flaw this boy found in LEC system is huge : even without searching for it, one can stumble upon all customer orders, name, email and the price they paid.
I feel not so at ease with that. I for one will stick to the free version we got in a regular way.
Anyway, it’s so unprofessional from them… I can’t believe it.
I guess I proposed the link here because I was so amazed by what I read in this topic…

Anyway, I’m quite curious on how LEC will manage this unbelievable situation… That speaks volume about the software business on internet.

I feel sorry for the LEC guys.
They should be more into language bussiness than web security.

    26 June, 2009

    PS: I didn’t know for PC Tools…
Actually I now remember I read about it, but then forgot it…

What can one say : bad news for PC Tools… :(

    Yup ! Rather bad news.
Symantec also bought ( my fav ) Altiris SVS 2 years ago … And I haven’t seen any enhancements since.
The business is killing the innovation. :-(

    Hi guys…
    Just an idea:
Why dont you put giveawayoftheday embed code in this page?
    Thanks and good day guys…

    1 point
    Hi jenggot !
We’ve had that ticker on our main page before but as you can see we need the sidebar space for our community’s informations.
You can see it embeded in our old GOTD articles. Whoever reads them can see the latest giveaway on GOTD.
Note that GOTD is already on the main page In “Our Favs”. If we embed codes for all our favs … there will be nothing else in our sidebars :-)
( and maybe Gizmo and Donation Coder deserve that more than GOTD , for the wonderful job they’re doing )
But maybe we’ll do it in the future, why not ? … If GOTD will also embed a 4 Free code on their main page , hehe. :-)
    ( Just a joke … And a good one !)
    Cheers!

Hi Franck! I have seen it in the first article.
You should have followed the link to the original source - Scott ( that I’ve actually published in our main article ).
Amit from Labnol was just “clever” and split the news in two. Two posts = maximizing the traffic for the same subject. But there’s nothing to condemn, the articles are well explained, I must admit.

Hi! I do not know others have mentioned it or not but I wanna tell it to you. Your article header
Latest Important News On The Web - Week 22-28 June
is a bit misleading. Instead of Week 22-28 June, you must change it to Week XX, 22-28 June or similar to it. Where XX is the week no. of the year. e.g. Jan 01-07 is Week 01 and Jan 08-14 is week 02. Week xx-yy is also looks like that time is starting from xx week and ending on yy week and if we combine it with month then looks like “From XX Week to YY Week in month ZZ”.
In Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway) they use week system and they schedule their work according to week no. in whole year. I have lived their for a long time and studied, too. My university was used to schedule our courses according to weeks (dates of course) not months. So, this change will help majority of visitors and specially from Nordic region.

    2 points
Thanks ! We’ll take it into consideration.
    Regards!
