That’s it ! You’re the owner of the german version … And you cannot use it ( unless you speak/understand/are german ) . 
Note that if you try the licence key on a download from the official site - it always reverts to the trial version.
Like said : we’re lucky to have Franck among us !
This is the workaround he gaved us. We have tried it and it works!
” … Anyway, the special installer comes bundled with all program localizations. But as it is a special installer, it doesn’t ask what languages to install.
The installer contains only its german version, so there is nothing to be done. And when you open the novapdf printer configuration panel in the langage tab, there is only german, and it’s unmodifiable.
But one can manually convert the prog in its language. Héhé…
1/ After installation, decompress the instaler exe file with Universal Extractor.
2/ In the output folder go to {tmp}\AMD64 folder (or {tmp}\i386 and find the novap6_XX.lng you want (where XX is the desired langage)
3/ Copy this file to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32×86\3
4/ With notepad open C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32×86\3\novap6.clg and replace :
for instance
de
novap6_de.lng
becomes
en
novap6_en.lng
After saving, go back to the printer configuration panel.
Normally you should see English as a greyed choice.
If you don’t replace the existing clg file content but append it instead, you should be able to select your langage.
Now go in the about tab and register !”
We must tell you that Franck’s final conclusion was NEGATIVE, mainly because he realised his true paper printer was uninstalled:
“This being said, as soon as I uninstall this novapdf it also uninstall my true paper printer…
Not a really goodpoint for this software. I for one prefer sticking with free pdfcreator.”
Our conclusion: We wonder if he did untick the option to make novaPDF the main printer, because we’ve had no similar problem. We are very impressed by this complex PDF creator. One of the best there is, for sure!

Hi again, a quick follow up just to clarify……I found getting things working perfectly simple. Can’t fault the instructions for that. Just pointing out that some users may still have a few issues just due to the number of needed steps to alter the language and stuff. And of course, people should be careful playing around in SYSTEM32!!! Still a good find tho. Thanks.

In reference to your question, I did the workaround, as I do not know German. I got the program to revert to English and register it without any problems. Although, one thing that I did notice that is if you are using Gmail, the e-mail may be placed into the spam folder, as it did for me. I just had to make it “Not as Spam” and it placed it into the inbox.

Any idea how to get the english workaround to go on Windows 7? My System32 file does not have a spool subdirectory and a search for the german language file only shows the one in the archive. Thanks for any help you can give as this is a great looking program.

Got a big oops here. My problem was because I was using a third party file explorer which would not allow me to see windows 7 system files. Likely a setting or something. Once I used windows explorer, I was able to make Franck’s changes. Unfortunately for me, it did not change the language. I even tried to take the contents of the english file and overwrite the german file, but that did not work either. Thanks for the package though, it looks great.

1/ First I’m glad this little manipulation is useful to many people… sometimes I really don’t get editors… why bother compiling a special german version if you embed inside all localizations files…
Anyway, good for us !
2/ My conclusion was negative indeed, but… I don’t know why it removed my hp psc printer… (I’m pretty sure I didn’t novaPDF as the defaut printer…)
But I must admit there was a feature of this hp psc that stopped working some times ago… (the hardware “scan to” button… that did no longer trigger the scan).
All my attempts to fixing it were unsuccessful, as the driver was already installed.
After trying NovaPDF, my windows saw my printer as a new device, and set it up as a new device… and the button is back to work… so, even if a pdf printer should go away with the real paper printer, this time it did some good.
3/ Seeing good appreciations from you, 4 free team, and everybody, the 4 free community, I’ll give this one a second and deeper look. So I will reinstall.
4/ Frankly, it’s a beautiful and neat program. But it is not because its author is charging money than it’s better than PDFCreator…
If someone can explain me the advantage of nova PRO over the competition, I’d be very grateful.
5/ SilGel, I’m not under 7. I’m using XP.
Now that you use the standard explorer and can see the two above-mentionned files, you can search for novap6_de.lng on your system hardrive. novap6.clg should be in the same folder.
FYI, these two files are also in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32×86\ folder
(note the “3″ missing at the end compared to the adress in the workaround).
I left these files untouched, and my copy is in French nevertheless.
Maybe it’s 7 or maybe it’s your config, but doing the manip in this folder (and not in the 3 subfolder) will do the trick…
I absolutely don’t know… Just an idea.
But please, don’t do any manipulation if you don’t feel perfectly at ease in the system32 folder
6/ Jenggot, I think it will work tomorrow…
(The special installer itself creates a shortcut to this registration page…as this page is mandatory for performing all minor upates until v7..
Please note that if you ever upgrade, you’ll surely need to redo the localization tweaking again).

I ran into a bit of a problem trying to make the language change. Franck’s instructions were fine but I still had trouble.
I made sure to uninstall a previous version before installing this one just to make sure nothing went wrong.
When I tried to move the English language file, I discovered that the previous version had left behind both the English and German language files. I wasn’t particularly worried about the German file but I couldn’t get the new English language file (which is slightly bigger than the old one) to replace the old one until I used “Unlocker” to unlock then delete the older file.
I then discovered that I couldn’t get the changes to clg file to stick.. Every time I made the change then checked to see if the novaPDF interface was now in English, I would learn that the change hadn’t stuck. Finally, I wondered if the German language file was the problem. After unlocking and deleting the German language file everything was fine.
I hope this helps anyone else who might be in the same situation. Take care and have a good day.

Installed on my XP Pro SP3 just fine
Did Frank’s tweaks and rebooted - now preferences come up in English (my German is too rusty from college)
Tested by print screening a wildlife video and printing through Nova from Wordpad. Resultant pdf came up just fine in Foxit Reader.
Will have to try some of the other features….

Another great software from 4Free! Installed without problems in Vista Prem. 32. Only the download link on first page have a somewhat misleading direction, because once one signs up, this first page does not return anymore. So download first and sign up later. TKS guys.

I messed around a little with this program, and I must say, I finally find it convenient to use. So I think I’ll finally keep it, and remove pdfcreator… (as novaPdf Pro offers a few more functionalities, like bookmarkings, and an easiest way to append to a preexisting pdf file…)
By the way, I’m also using expert pdf (6)… I like the editor that come with that prog.
But the pdf printer from expert pdf is awful : not easy to use at all, not user friendly and no more functions that pdfcreator (unless I never found out how to use them).
Does someone know if it possible and how to keep expert pdf editor, expert pdf to word converter and to remove (in a clean way) what appears to me as a lame pdf printer? Thanks…

I’m curious about that, too.
language conversion was OK and immediate. Don’t know why, but both the English and German versions files were on the PC ( actually I think it is because I first installed the English version from the official web site, because I could not find the link to the German promotion download after signing on for the promotion (problem mentioned in previous note)). Anyway, used Everything ( an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE UTILITY ) to find the novap6… files, right clicked on the 2 novap6.clg files that it found, replaced de for en on both lines and everything was in English. Including help ( which calls your browser and always asks for permission to open the file - annoying, but one can always un-tick the “Always ask this question before opening this file”). As for the problem of uninstalling and also deleting the real paper printer driver, I had to use Revo to uninstall the English version which was not registering, and my regular printer was NOT removed. Yesterday I just could not remove the wrong nova printer, but today, after turning the computer off and on again the wrong printer could be removed. So everything is fine. Thanks Franck and 4Free.

Hey guys, I am running into a little problem when doing the language trick. After I make the changes in notepad, it won’t let me save the file saying that it can not be created and to make sure the file path is correct. Any help would be appreciated.

The exact error message I get when I go to save the file is:
Cannot create the
C:\Windows\System32\spool\driver\w32×86\3\novap6.clg file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct.
Can anyone confirm that the workaround was a success on vista.

I have done it on XP but there are already a few confirmations for Vista.

Ok I just solved my own problem. First of all, before I saved the edited .clg file, I deleted the existing one from the folder. Also, I ran notepad as administrater which allowed me to save in the C:\ directory. Thanks 4 Free for this great pdf tool and thanks Franck for the language trick.

I managed to apply this tweak on XP and Windows 7.
On Windows 7 I had some problems. I couldn’t change language because I didn’t have enough rights. So I went to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right clicked on novaPDF printer and selected Printer Options, selected Security tab, added my user to the list and gave it the permission to manage the printer. Then I was able to change the language.

This looks great, and I made the language tweak work, too — though my experience (XP, SP2) was a bit different from that of others. First, I registered the German copy BEFORE changing the language, which I think I wasn’t supposed to do. Then I moved and edited the files, and entered the name and registration code in the form all over again, and registered again (and it accepted my registration again). Unfortunately, the Printing Preferences screen was still all in German, so I thought I’d blown it.
I thought of deleting the de = German file, but I didn’t. Fortunately, in the morning — i.e., after a reboot — the Printing Preferences screen (and the Help file) was switched to English.
So if you do the tweak and the language isn’t changed, try rebooting before getting desperate!

The features mentioned here are great. I am not able to figure out whether it will work on My MAC OS. Any idea? I was looking for this information in this post but have not got any information

Well, I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but whatever I insert, it always says “Invalid Email address”.

I`m skipping this one, because I`m satisfied with PDF Creator. It offers pdf-creation for free, but it lacks Novas feature to add pages to an existing pdf. Since I don`t need that very often, i`m sticking with PDF Creator.

Thanks for the warning about my HotPOP e-mail account. It’s apparently been dead since about June 1! I sent them a Support Ticket last Thursday, they haven’t responded yet. I don’t expect a lot of support for a free e-mail account.
Is it possible to switch my account to another e-mail address, or do I have to start from scratch and lose all (both? ) my points?

didn’t know this soft but promo still works (because no update is still available? - must say i have never activated a legal soft with such a ‘hack’) . language switch is tricky indeed, i also needed the reboot and i was initially confused with the folder before …\3, the *.lng and *.cng files we need also exist in that folder. soft looks promising, thanks, if pdf quality is good, with bookmarks, searchable pdfs and no postscript required i’m going to replace bullzip in my primary machine for sure.

Too bad, I installed and uninstalled. This software as a number of issues with the print spooler http://www.novapdf.com/kb/when-i-try-printing-to-novapdf-it-says-waiting-for-printer-but-nothing-happens-why-136.html
, and it doesn’t run under sandboxie (after 2 days trying to put it to work I quitted). Bullzip is the bookmark feature behind but doesn’t have any of these issues. It did look promising though, maybe next version is better…
