TuneUp Utilities 2008 And Desktop Maestro 3 - Free Promotions From PCTools

So this was the postponed plan B on the previous HF, where we’ve had troubles in finding the right serial number for TUU 2008 ( see below ).
Like explained in the notifications you have received by mail, we have find another public promotion for Tune Up Utilities 2008, after the outdated Easter one. Those of you who have already grabbed it from the older promotion may be bothered by this article but please take into consideration that there are more than 40 000 new visitors (!!!) on 4 Free , since April 10 ( when we have published the Chip.de promotion - which lasted just a few days ).
So let’s take care of the newcomers in our community and give the chance to grab this great system utility software !

New module: “TuneUp Drive Defrag”
TuneUp Utilities 2008 now includes the brand new TuneUp Drive Defrag module, one of the most powerful modules in the Increase performance category. TuneUp Drive Defrag performs a thorough analysis of your disks to determine whether they are highly fragmented. Highly fragmented disks can slow down your system performance, as the files needed by Windows must first be reconstructed from individual pieces (fragments) before they can be opened.
TuneUp Drive Defrag puts the scattered fragments on your hard disk back together to speed up your system substantially. The files are also reorganized in an intelligent way so that Windows and frequently used programs or games will launch substantially faster. Finally, the free space on your disks is consolidated to prevent new fragments from being created for as long as possible. This comprehensive optimization may take a while but is worth it - just give it a try!
Improved TuneUp 1-Click Maintenance
TuneUp 1-Click Maintenance in TuneUp Utilities 2008 allows you to perform even more maintenance functions on your system with a single click of the mouse. You can also run this important function directly from the Start Center. Additional information about TuneUp 1-Click Maintenance is also shown there. In the new software version, defragmentation of your hard disks is now included in TuneUp 1-Click Maintenance. While this is being done in the background, you can minimize TuneUp 1-Click Maintenance and continue working with your computer without any problems.
New Start Center - even easier to use
The TuneUp Utilities Start Center has been completely redesigned to make it more visually appealing and modern. But that’s not all. The new software version now lets users navigate to program modules much more quickly. The completely revised navigation system in the TuneUp Utilities 2008 Start Center has been made even more intuitive. The left side of the window now shows potential changes that can be made. There are now six categories to choose from: Increase performance, Free up disk space, Maintain Windows, Solve problems, Customize Windows and Additional tools. After a category has been selected, the names of the corresponding modules will be displayed on the right side of the window.
The latest version of the software now includes links to specific functions within the modules. The program also displays links to related modules along the bottom edge of every category page (”See also”).
New area: “Free up disk space”
Even the largest hard disk fills up at some point. With today’s Internet connections and the constantly growing range of downloads, this happens more quickly than most users would like it to. That’s why TuneUp Utilities 2008 now offers even more features to find and delete unnecessary files.
In the Free up disk space area of the Start Center, TuneUp Utilities 2008 now gives you an overview of the amount of space that can be saved on each system drive. This function replaces and expands upon the “TuneUp DiskCleaner” module, which was used in earlier versions of TuneUp Utilities. In addition to the file types that were identified by the older program versions, the program now finds error reporting files, thumbnail files (Windows, ACDSee and Google Picasa formats), restore points, Windows Update backups and the Google Earth cache. The “Windows functions” category, also new, can help you to quickly free up gigabytes of additional disk space.
New module: “TuneUp Repair Wizard”
The TuneUp Repair Wizard can be opened directly from the Start Center in the new category Solve problems. This recognizes common computer or display problems and can quickly resolve them.
TuneUp System Control with even more tweaks for Vista
TuneUp System Control gives you more than 400 options for customizing Windows and program settings. The new version also includes additional functions for the brand new Windows Vista operating system.

How to grab Tune Up Utilities 2008 for free ?
Well, this is along-short story ! There was an expired public promotion on a very well known computer related magazine, BUT the registration worked with a common serial number ( and not individual registration ).
We have read the infos about this public promotion but the official page where the serial key was available ( by mistake - obviously ) has suddenly disappeared 3 days ago!
Knowing how it looks like we have finally decided to use Google and found the serial key on … YouTube (!!)
We can guarantee that this key is official and legal because we have seen it ourselves on the public magazine webpage. Anyway the best proof is the fact that that serial works for multiple registration ( untill PCTools will decide to close it down ).
1. Go to this YouTube page and copy the serial number from the right upper side of the page. ( QQKLP - … )
2. Go on PC Tools download page and download the installer for the latest build ( version 7.0.8007.0 ) :

That’s it ! Run the installer and don’t forget to register ! ( please see details in screenshots from below )

PS. Note that there is a recent free promotion on Computeractive for Desktop Maestro 3 from PCTools. Beside the registry and system optimization tools from TUU 2008 it has the Privacy Guardian feature.
We’re sure that you have already noticed that promotion revealed on other websites. Maybe you have also noticed that after the initial web-buzz, PC Tools guys have restricted it and now it is available for UK IPs only.
So if you live outside UK you need to use a good proxy. We could have easily recommend another proxy and act like we’ve had no idea about the same subject on other websites. But this is not our style !
Anyway please note 3 aspects:
- of course we have always had this promotion - very probable before anybody else ( site owners ) … BUT, for obvious reasons, WE NEVER PUBLISH THESE PROMOTIONS WHILE STILL ACTIVE. Not the case with the site mentioned in below.
( He published this promotion in the middle of the active period ! )
Now the promotions is expired and we can tell you to go and grab it because it still works.
- We always credit our sources in an honest way ( and not using childish games like “Thanks Free Team and fake91″ .. to only mention one of the subjects obviously taken from 4 Free without giving a fair credit ). Not the case for the site mentioned in below.
- 4 Free doesnt look for traffic by any means, like others do ( forgetting the most basic common sense ).
We must tell you that this guy came on 4 Free, a few weeks ago, with a comment like “Great work! This is the first time I hear about your site”. Well he was obviously forgetting that he had already honoured us with another comment ( “Great work! Blah blah blah … ) … One month before his ” very first visit”.
This guy wants traffic ( money ) so we give him traffic ( MONEY ) ! We hope he will be very pleased now and we really wish him a better life !

I’m amazed there are so many on the market.
Although this one is quite serious (at least we can say the web buzz generated by repeated free promo seems to work), I wonder how a company can find enough motivation to develop one of those

Regarding the way of getting the key… legally speaking, nothing to say against 4 free (youtube responsibility to maintain or not this page)…
But not fully fair for the developer (even if, truly speaking, I suspect he is seeking this kind of buzz and workarounds because of his targeted market is really over-crowded).

Well,I have them both,but just wanted to say that these are both great to have.TUU does argue with Advanced System Care Pro(IObit)about the best optimization settings for your system and internet connection.However,like a good Chinese menu,you can choose some from column A and some from Column B and get some excellent results.Seems they’re both right about certain settings.Unable to fully comment on the PC Tools offering because I just acquired the set-up file from another source earlier today-not a mass giveaway offer,more of a gift.Keep em’ coming guys,we love free stuff!! Gentlemen: Thanks again for finding something to make each day’s visits to you site worthwhile. I picked up the Tune Up 2008 offer more for the Windows customization features than for the actual utilities themselves as I like many of their desktop themes, boot images, etc. As for the Desktop Maestro promo, I couldn’t get it to work at all even with the proxy work-around suggested on the other site. I even tried some proxies from sites you’ve suggested before, but again had no luck. But then I’ve never had any luck with proxies so I;m not surprised at all.

I just read Chris’s note above. There were 2 sites listed to download the software. After I checked the site Chris used, I went to the other site, and there was a clean download - no information requested.

As to be expected downloaded and installed flawlessly. So, i started with the features i will use most. Start up manager and gave good descriptions of the programs and their functions. Made it easy for people to decide which to continue running and which to disable. Ran some clean up programs like CC before to see if it gave me anything extra and yes it gave me a little extra space. Ran 2 reg cleaners prior to using the Tune ups one and i must admit this seems to have found a lot more problems. Looking at the info it gives me of which to delete seems to have picked up the right problems, uninstalled programs etc. Too early to tell if this has caused any issues but have a restore option. What i like about this program is it appears to give good information about what it is about to do and why. Also doesn’t do anything without asking. Loads of features to investigate further but i like this one and will keep it. Ok most tune up facilities can be done using windows anyway, but this puts it in one place and helps the less knowledgeable make an informed decision and this program informs better than most.

It seems that you must change the proxy.
Use Google and find another UK proxy.
I got myself the “Desktop Maestro 3″ license. But I do wonder if they seriously think that just anyone will give their real address?
They not only check if your IP is from the uk, but they also seem to check, if your IP already has requested a license, if it has you’ll get a message saying that your ip adress already requested a license and that they will not send a new license. (So I had to go looking for another proxy and I found one).

As you scroll down your TuneUp 2008 information, you show “How to grab Tune Up Utilities 2008 for free ?” Under item 2 is an address http://www.tune-up.com/download/tu2008/ I went to that address, downloaded the trial version, updated it, entered the registration information, it was accepted, and I now have a fully registered copy of TuneUp 2008. At no time in the process was my address, etc, requested. I admit, I don’t know if it’s the current build no.

Just got TUU 2008 and tried it. The main thing is system performance
and i tried all the options.This is what i got to see.
1)TuneUp Drive Defrag - The disk defrag was slow and irritating. The
worst in the market.
2)TuneUp Startup Manager - I cant see any change on my PC(same
1 min & 30 sec).
3)TuneUp System Optimizer - It didnt optimize either my PC nor my internet
speed.
4)TuneUp Registry Defrag - It doesn’t have any option to backup the registry
changes. A big let down. I don’t know whether it did any tuneup to my registry
or not !!
5)TuneUp Memory Optimizer - Did something good here.Yeah it improved
my physical memory(available) from 525 MB to 586 MB.Great achievement
indeed !!
If a person doesn’t have any technical knowledge of computer(which
can be done without paying any price) he can use it.
I know it will not do any optimization on my PC, but still tried it.
At least it helped in giving a feedback !

Hi Guys.Thank you for the link for TUU8.It works great on my XP and though I have a couple of other utilities,I may keep this one.The Reg cleaner found entries my other programs missed which I deemed safe to remove,so the cleaner’s setting doesn’t seem aggressive.I haven’t fully tested out the other tools, though they are very informative about what they are about to change or remove and the whole suite is well organised.However I found the labelling of ‘TuneUp’ added to all the tools a minor irritation
Overall,I would recommend this to anyone who hasn’t got (unlikely) a utility tool.
I passed on DM3 from the other site.

I just downloaded and activated TuneUp Utilities 2008 with no problem. I live in Canada and didn’t use a proxy so people maybe should try the download and activation even if they have no proxy available.

Hi guys!! TuneUp 2008 is ok on my pc. But Maestro was outdated. So grabbed it. Had some problems to find a working UK Proxy, but nothing the Google can not solve!!! Got my e-mail, uninstalled version 2 by the use of Revo and installed version 3 OK! As always, tks again!!

A lot of reg defrag tools do not come with a back up option as the registry isn’t changed as such,just compacted.There is a back up tool available on TUU8 (rescue center) when using the repair registry tool.I am sure Mayur already knows this,but I just wanted to clarify.BTW,I agree with him about the defrag tool.It is incredibly slow.

Just tried this TUU8 and I have to say that I like it. It’s like many free utilities but it’s all-in-one and has better settings and more features. There is a tool that tells you all the info of your system so you don’t have to look for it by yourself. The “Solve Problems” has a “Doctor” that will reduce problems on your PC. I really like this one. Try it!

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I have been really busy. Great to see DM3 being given away. I had DM2 and I am happy to be able to upgrade. As for TU 2008, I grabbed that in the earlier promotion and I must say it is terriffic. Hopefully I will start being more active again now that everything has slowed down.

We don’t encourage the use of keygen codes.
The rare times we have talked about codes were when we have seen them with our own eyes in popular computer magazines. ( but we never publish the codes on 4 Free )
We can imagine anybody can read those magazines like we are doing … So the codes can be called “public”
As for other methods to get keygens … One word : illegal .
