Thanks for the fast feedback!
Thank you!
This look very useful, and email came fast too.
(A note: Titan backup which you offered a while ago, i saw on side list, is now GFI backup and is free! but is different enough that some had trouble i saw in GFI forum. I had thought this could go in your freewares section as many had gotten Titan from your promo here)

Hi! We were aware about that change and many friends told us about it.
We’re just waiting to see the general reaction because this is practically a new product of a brand new company. We wouldn’t want to advertise someone we do not know very well, esp his intentions.
Appreciate your will to share the info.
Regards!
Thanks! I’m gonna give it a try!

Hi!
What a difference a “dot” makes (explanation later) Registration email was immediate!! Though I don’t run that Net Framework junk,I made an exception here. The download and install were smooth and error free(even with the MS junk)Utility performs well.About the “dot”-when you copy and paste the link for the set up file,DO NOT include the last “.” (period or dot) after exe-Color me stupid!!!-took five tries and three browsers to figure that out!! Thanks for something REALLY useful -Great job-4Free rules!!

Thanks for the fast feedback and info!
Please note: This only works in 32 bit OS, so it will not run in Win 7 or Vista 64, I was really looking forward to using this also!

It’s in the article - System Requirements - Jonathan :
Thanks for underlining it, anyway!”
Hi guys, managed to get this one before going to bed
Registration and installation of the software and .net framework went pretty fast. The gui is well organized, handy, and all the settings and tweaks are thoroughly explained,so even less experienced users can easily “put windows on nitro”.Scans the system fast, and cleans junk files, privacy threats, and provides a wide array of tools to tweak the system, from startup to shutdown, network, memory, and many many more.Of course,if you accidentally mess up something, the recovery center is at your disposal. Can’t wait to see the result of the tweaks applied to my machine, but,so far,so good.I really like this tool, and I recommend it to all.Best regards and thank you!

Hi Z! Thank you for the fast feedback!
Right! This really a good HF. PC health is more important than other software. Thank you. Can you find Glary Utilities???
Thank you for this HF.
1 point
Hi! Glary ? … Sooner or later.
I did a search for . The reviews are mixed: about half “Hate it. It wrecked my system,” and about half “It’s OK. It just uses Windows own built-in tools, but makes them more accessible.” Reviews which exclaim, “Fantastic!” are exceedingly rare. One suspects these reviews were done by UniBlue staffers.
The whole concept of running a program which uses RAM, to free up RAM, seems counter-intuitive.
Nevertheless, having backed up my system with a drive image, I will forge ahead, installing and testing this program. I’ll report back later tonight.
2 points
You’re right about the reviews. The most important thing about these tools ( they’re all almost identical ) is how do they get along with your OS … And how do you ( the user ) get along with how they work ( handy GUI, etc … )
Backing up your system is mandatory before performing any tunning / repairing / cleaning operation . In fact most softwares come with a built-in recovery center ( like SpeedUpMyPC 2009 does too ) - using the Windows service, in fact.
Thanks for the infos!
Just in case anyone hits this and thinks the site is down: if the name you use to register includes *accented* letters e.g. á or ç or ã for example, the Uniblue site gives an error (looks like the site is down). Register with non-accented (US ASCII only
letters to avoid this.

Thank you for the info !
Hi guys!
I’m a fan of Uniblue products. I trust you’ll also find their Registry Booster 2009 and give us the whole 2009 Suite .
SpeedUpMyPC works great. Never had any bug while using it.
Do I need to say it ? 4 Free Rules!
And oh! Many thanks to Mayur, johnnyboyrebel and cyrus. Great find friends!

Glad you like it Brian!
Back again with results.
Boot time before SpeedUpMyPC: 3:07. Yeah, it’s s-l-o-w, so I’d really like to speed things up!
Boot time after SpeedUpMyPC: 3:08.
I didn’t test it for time with actual programs. But the above is enough for me. Bye bye Speedy.
2 points
And if you’re boot time was already optimized ?
I mean what if this is the best you can get anyway. I imagine you have already used other tools to optimize it .
experienced users can hold their system optimized by removing unnecessary programs and services from windows start up .
if you are not, at least don’t install heavy programs unless you realy nead it .
this program maybe could remove some entries from your registry and minor changes but i’m sure installing .net will fills up your registry with hundred entries and slows down your system in another way. in the end ,faster hardware =faster pc.
2 points
Hi! I agree that advanced users don’t need this kind of software.
The opinions on installing the latest .net framework are mixed. To be honest I saw no slow down on my old trial PC (XP Home ). And there are more and more applications asking for it. So if you stay on Windows you’ll have to install it, sooner or later.
Just want to mention that SpeedUpMyPC is not heavy at all on your HD. It ionly takes a few Mo ( 5 ? ) on your HD. It’s practically a GUI using Windows existing tools ( and a few extras ).
Thank you!
The perfect software for the active members to help each other. Ok I have downloaded it and run the software with no problems on vista 32. The scan is quick and the clean up utility seems straight forward. Has it speeded my system up? Absolutely no idea. This is where we need the more technically minded members of the community to advise the rest of us whether in general terms it helps or if there is simple way to see if it has helped. I presume there are better ways than using my stopwatch. As you said it is my choice about installing the net 3.5 ???? Why would it be a problem ? I wish my feed back could be better but with this kind of software can’t help very much except to say it “doesn’t not work”.

Hi Andy!
I personally have had no problems in installing it, but I’m kind of forced to do it ( since I try new apps very often ).
If I’m not wrong the general argument is that this is another ( or the ultimate ) intrusive tool from M$oft. Of course it also takes place on your HD - 27,22 Mo + 37,66 Mo the SP1 Pack.
On another hand you have already trusted M$oft when buying his OS … So : why not playing the game, since all modern applications will ask for it.
Is SpeedUpMyPC effective ? If you ask me all theses similar tunning/cleaning/repairing suites are mainly doing the same operations, with different GUIs ( more or less easy-to-use ).
Anyway (1) the system must be maintained & (2) always backup before performing these operations.
Just my personal point of view.
Regards!
I Just want to say HI! and say that one way I found to speed up my computer is to not install net3.5.
if it wasn’t for that I would have grabbed this.
2 points
Hi !
I’m not at all a M$oft fan but I want to tell you that I’ve heard this theory ( .net framework is slowing down your PC ) … Before trying it on one of my PCs.
The result ? I see no difference ( slower or faster ) … And I can install modern applications asking for it.
Since you’re already in the hands of M$oft, why not keeping it update?
But maybe I’m wrong and ignoring other aspects.
Cheers!
I had last year’s version (SUMPC3). It was quite good. I don’t like the “Enable Powersuite” though…. It’s just a gimmick to get you two buy their other two similar products. I wasn’t impressed enough with v3 to purchase v2009 …. I’ll definitely get as a freebie though!!! Thanks 4Freers!
2 points
Hi!
So you’re an ( rare - in these comments ) old user of Uniblue products and you’ve had no problems with earlier versions.
Good to know. Thank you!
No, I haven’t used other “optimizing” tools, at least the kind that do things for you automatically.
I’ve certainly used Startup tools to prune the list of programs which start with Windows; and reduced the graphic features used in Windows XP (e.g. animated menus and the like). I was hoping that this tool would go beyond those basic items, to some obscure tweaks, but apparently it doesn’t.
1 point
You’re right! It brings no special tweaks.
Another great hot find. Thanks, Mayur, johnnyboyrebel, cyrus, and of course 4 Free Team. Some of the tweaking features are top-notch and the gui is very easy to use.

Thank you, guys! The uninstaller section of the application might come in handy if it manages to go beyond Windows’ poor uninstaller.

Thank you for sharing your opinion!
After reading reviews from other sites and the required installation of Dot Net,I am going to pass on this.I have programs on my system incl.some of your past HF’s such as Paragon HD Manager and the O&O products as well as Revo and CCleaner that do the job without Dot Net. I have nothing against this language, but I don’t want to install it just to run a systems utility program.
A number of patches have come out since Dot Net 3.5,so it maybe in your interest to download these as well from Microsoft Update Site.
2 points
Hi !
Once you install .net framework it asks for update. Enabling Windows update for important updates it’s a must on every PC, of course.
Thank you!
Thanks, 4Free… I was just thinking to purchase this when I saw it in VNU. I understand this program doesn’t really work on your Registry, so it won’t impact much of your boot-time. Anyway, I usually use Advanced SystemCare + Glary Utilities + Registry Mechanics for that. My VISTA boots up usually around 1.5 minutes. The reason I was looking for this is because I do a lot of modeling and computing, which is heavy on resource and memory. This, I have heard, is one of the better application. Good stuff!!!

Another positive reaction.
Thank you!
G’day Guys, Another nice HF, thanks all, but i pass as my boxes are all speedy enough as is due to being careful about how much and what i place on them, any new apps are tested in a VM and if ok then go onto the boxes. Looking forward to the next HF.

Hi Hazy!
You’re using the ideal method. Congrats!
I have heard good things from many who have used this product from Uniblue, but like I said during voting, I have way too many system clean up utilities (all offered here), and they are all working fine, was hoping for maybe an update to those programs, but no matter . Thanks guys (Mayur, cyrus, johnnyboyrebel and 4 free) and keep up the awesome work. It is a pleasure to have a site like this around you know :). Cheers!

Nice GUI and easy to understand (help link in every process - need internet conection). Although you did not buy or install uniblue products you can still access the help/library page at: http://www.processlibrary.com/ ( goog if you need similiar service out there
Great tweaking tools actually but uniblue separates the registry booster from speedupmypc. I used to clean up my registry using registry mechanic (thanks to 4Free) or Advance sistem care pro (thanks to raymond). On the other hand one should be very careful using registry tool! Always use it from a trusted source.
What I like most in uniblue speedupmypc 2009 is CPU booster! this could be handy for PC with many runing programs everyday.
Another well known software !!! One at a time
Thanks Mayur, johnnyboyrebel, cyrus ( aka jackal ? ) and the 4Free Team + 4Free’ers

Hi! Thanks for this one! But I’ll be very careful trying it this time, cause I had a bad experience with SUMPC already. Also, I wanted to ask our friends, are there any software that can help me to choose which Windows XP services I could disable and which I shouldn’t touch? Because I always fail in doing it manually (if there is no such software, maybe you know a REALLY safe and good guide for manual disabling?). Looking forward for your answer guys, I really trust you =)

Hi! There are many sites about tweaking Windows.
Try the recommendations from our older article :
http://for-free-on-internet.com/2008/08/windows-xp-%E2%80%93-tweak-it/
Hope it helps!
Hi guys…
often install and uninstall softwares or your PC is old and has a little ram installed on it or… THAN you probably need tweaks your PC at once!
System tweaks used for speed up or boost up your PC but what we have here is only one from two or three tools we need to gain better performance of our PC ( such as defrag and registry tools or else )
You can still tweak your PC manually see:
http://for-free-on-internet.com/2008/08/windows-xp-–-tweak-it/
IF you (often) use some heavy program such as graphics ( autoCAD or games ) or have a bad habit
Cheers…
2 points
Thanks for this!
When I installed, an error message always pops up (’SUMP has encountered a problem and needs to close.’), so I could never open it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times, and it still happened, then finally let the program load instead of sending the error report (or Don’t send), and it opened up properly, registered properly, and is now running the scan, with the error message box still opened. I don’t know why the error message appeared and I hope it’ll disappear after the first scan.

Hi Emily! I’m sure you always create an Restoration Point before installing any software.
If it’s not compatible with your actual OS configuration ( there can be tons of reasons ) … You simply revert the system to the previous stage.
… And wait for a better solution from 4 Free !
Registered, downloaded. Download was only 2,3MB. (this is small, would the installer need internet access? I’ll find out this evening
Thanks

It only installs 5,47 Mo on your HD, anyway.
Thanks this ones should be really useful.

Hi Kyky!
Hi, I did try this software, (as i have tried most similar applications). Have been using it since yesterday. Got the email from Uniblu quickly and the program installed with no problems (windows xp sp3). Since using it, it has not showed any increase in performance to pc, (could be because i usually keep my system will maintained, clutter cleaned out, updated, defragged , etc
Not saying that Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009 does not work, it just does not show any improvement on my system. For others it might work and be a usefull application, as most Uniblue products or fairly good and the company itself is trustworthy. I will try this for a few more days. If it does shows any sign of improving my pc’s performance i will report back to this site. Good luck to all who try this. Big thanks to Mayur, johnnyboyrebel, cyrus, and of course the 4 Free Team for starting this site. Please forgive me as I am new at putting my evaluations of software into words. Regards!

Thank you Andy!
Thx again! Gonna think about trying this out just for the heck of it. Might Sandboxie it or on a virtual OS. Normally this programs are kind of dangerous for the novice unless one is careful, and that is where you will read about these programs messing up ppl’s PCs. You need to read everything it is doing and/or removing and double check things before just allowing them to happen.
It may not speed up many systems, as many newer ones are actually sufficient and efficient already. It will, or at least should, help those somewhat older systems, those systems lacking resources like not enough ram, etc.
If your internet settings are already setup properly, and many are, it won’t make a huge difference in those speeds either. Except again, on improperly configured PCs, older and slower PCs, and/or those not already optimized.
What programs like this are extremely useful for is easy and quick access to user interface tweaks, browser tweaks, HOST files tweaks, all the system statistics(cpu and memory usage for example) to let the user know what part of his/her system may need upgraded, start up manager, and those types of features.
Thanks again guys!

Hi Tuky!
While I have downloaded the application, I have not installed it since I install system utilities only during my system backup cycles.
Reading the comments here, a few of them say that the product has not resulted in any improvement on their system (and explanation is that maybe their system is already well optimized). Has anyone at all seen any improvement?
Any system from Microsoft cannot be well optimized by itself, and many utilities that claim to increase the RAM available and system speed actually fall short of their claims. I wonder where Uniblue stands.

Glad you like it!
Although it’s a much delayed comment, I won’t bring any evaluation about this software. I was MIA and encountered a total internet failure yesterday.
By the way, I will be MIA again, for maybe a week… so I hope to find many great freebies when I’m back.
OK… Now, the real comment…
Sorry if I seem a little bit touchy, but I’m fed up with this .NET controversy.
.NET is in any way a “cons”. Actually, it’s more or less a “pro”.
I have no interest in Microsoft business, but why no one complains when it comes that a program need the java runtime?
.NET and Java are two examples of what we call “frameworks”. Actually, that’s a software additional layer between the OS and the prog the end-user launches.
Java is cross-platforms, but who cares? unless you are an IT pro managing a huge number of machines, I think there is no advantage of using a java-written app. What’s more, jar programs are quite slow to launch and to run… so?
.NET slows down the machine? What a joke? It’s a framework that is totally transparent for the end-user (which Java is not) and offers many advantages. Could someone who is refusing for philosophical reason the .NET, why he/she accepts to use, let’s say, shell32.dll. It comes bundled with windows, yes… but actually, wouldn’t windows run faster if there were no taskbar and no context menu? There is already a file explorer, so…
Microsoft should integrate this .NET as part of the OS and this polemic would be to an end - but I know there will be instantly another one… (sigh…)
The main advantage of a prog requiring .NET is that it uses “managed code”. That’s portion of code that can be understood by the computer only through the framework. That means that this managed code based program doesn’t interfere directly with the OS. Do I need to say that, speaking about stability and security, it’s much much better ? In the case of a poorly written app (if you go to giveawayoftheday.com - which I do ! - you may install at least 5 of those a week !), when it crashes, if it’s managed code, it won’t hurt in any case your OS and it’s core functionality.
I for one have all .NET versions and service packs, and it just improves my computing experience. Period.
That’s said, it’s quite astonishing a system optimizing tool requires the .NET.
I think it uses it for its graphic user interface. But I can’t know and I have not made my mind yet as if I try this one or not.
My humble opinion is that this kind of prog is a waste of time and / or money… but I may be wrong.
I have CCleaner, O&ODefrag 11 and a security suite (trend micro) and I can’t see any flaw in my system maintenance. My computer is on almost 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and my XP never crashes (OK, almost never… twice or three times a year)
Sorry to everybody for my ill-tempered reaction over .NET…
Have a nice week everyone !

Hi Bashir!
Si si… un vrai Français… mais un Français préssé… Je n’avais pas tout lu, ni le commentaire d’Andy ni ta réponse !
OK, I got tempted by this software.
I don’t know if it optimizes something, but there are crappy things about this prog.
1/ During the install process, it says I have not the latest .NET version !!!!
OMG… I gasped… Nevertheless I let him do his trick and install it !
As it download nothing, I’d like some explanations on how the prog can manage the trick to be an only 5Mb installer and contain all the .NET 3.5 inside…
2/ I launched this magic installer again… and guess what ? It detected that I have not the latest .NET version !
What a joke, but I wouldn’t allow such a program do any tweak to my system as this little story shows that the installer is faking when testing .NET presence. Not really serious from the developer, if you ask me…
3/ When I stop laughing at this joke is when I found out that the uninstaller uninstalls nothing (it doesn’t even remove shortcuts nor himself from the registry).
How lame! I regret I’m too lazy to activate returnil before I try a new prog.
I hope it will uninstall after a reboot.
That was my first experience with uniblue… (I didn’t take the defragger).
Who said it’s a serious company ?

I think it only said it’s installing the dot net - in your case …Maybe the popup stays there anyway ( an error from the developer ) … But did not do installed it because you’ve had it already installed.
These tool-boxes are obviously not a solution for advanced computer users like you. I can bet your PC is very well maintained anyway!
Beware friends! This one completely messed up my WinXP SP3. It all started with graphic card error (Intel 945GM I have) and ended up with constant BSOD always when I’m trying to boot XP. Fortunately, I was smart enough to test it on my laptop, now I’m writing this from my desktop PC. Two hours I’m trying to fix my system. Sad thing is, it’s the second time SUMPC messed up my system, I won’t trust Uniblue anymore.

Hmm! Sorry to hear that !
Uniblue is “Microsoft Gold Certified Partner”.
Is M$oft irresponsible ?
Having used power translator, which worked fine by the way, i have read all of Frank’s comments and i appreciate the input of an informed user. Partly because i was too lazy to look these things up myself but mainly in the community spirit i feel i can trust (rightly or wrongly) comments from a regular contributor who has no axe to grind or obvious bias. This seems to me one of the most important parts of “the community”. And unless i am mistaken after the recent comments by a number of us there seems to be more comments on the performance of the software, which i, for one, appreciate and hope continues.

) must have convinced a few other friends.
Hi Andy! You’re not wrong at all.
The repetitive “Talk about the software” and some great examples ( like you
The things are moving in the good direction, indeed!
I really don’t like this, and I think Tuneup Utilities 2007 is MUCH better. Setup took about 1 minute. Immediately after setup, it ran a scan without asking me. It found a couple of errors and took a LONG time to remove them. For example, it found 19 junk files. It took 1-2 minutes to delete them. The thing I really hate is that it automatically starts at startup, and displays this giant splash screen for who kniws how long. It goes on top of every other window and it’s hard to see what’s in the window below it. I had to open the task manager and terminate SUMP.exe, which was taking 30k memory. My final verdict is to stick to Tuneup, Ashampoo, or some other known brand.

Thank you for the feedback!
Don’t really have a use for the Uniblue find. However, I do have something to say:
I appreciate Franck’s comment on .Net Framework. For a couple of years I avoided any application that required it - and that got more and more difficult. Then I came across Mobysaurus Thesaurus, a Donation Coder program that requires .Net. I wanted it badly. I balked. I squirmed. I procrastinated. Then I downloaded .Net and Mobysaurus. Disaster did NOT strike. All is well. If it has slowed my system at all, the difference is so infinitesimal as to be unnoticeable AND I am now free to download and use all the many wonderful applications out there that also require .Net.
Lots of what is posted on the internet has come from people who have no personal experience of what they are commenting on. They are only repeating - with the best of intentions - what they’ve read elsewhere.

Thank you for the fair opinion.
I know you agree anybody is free to write his comment, no matter the value of the content. Let’s say it is just their way to say hello.
There are more and more valuable comments. We have all noticed that!
That’s why now we are highlighting them.
Cheers!
The most important thing for me is perfomance of my PC, it’s why I try to avoid installing extra programs ( inspite of their being valuable, but not necessary), I lately even refused to use any antivirus program, cause all of them “eat up” too much system resources.
Moreover, to the topic-I always thought Uniblue products to be of bad quality, as I had bad experiences with their products in the past, so I’m not surprised in the least when reading majority of negative comments on Uniblue Speed UP my PC.

Thank you Dave!
Dave, have You tried to use Avira’s Antivirus? Because I can’t say it eats a lot of resources even on my old 1.5Ghz 512MB RAM laptop.

It increased the speed at which Start menu and other menus open. But, it deleted the bookmarks files that were on the desktop. Also, there is no provision to save changes when you unclick the chat messages so that it is not deleted. Uninstalled the software as it was deleting things that were needed like the one mentioned above and also Ashampoo 2008 Office files. Don’t know what else it has deleted. But, the menu opens fast still.

Hi Folks,
“Microsoft Gold Certified Partner”. basically means nothing, I wrote to MS and asked and got a gibberish reply, apparently it mostly little more than that they give MS a few $$ for membership and are not convicted of treason and various felonies.
Uniblue products have become largely a scam, designed to get billings from the registry scare-ware (marketed largely through affiliate ads full of deception) that messes up a lot more systems than SUMPC. (Years back Uniblue they took over a decent small company to get some ok software, mostly defunct stuff now.) Uniblue is very clever in getting a few techies into their hip pockets by affiliate $$ arrangements and lives on the google ad plague. Web of Trust has properly marked their sites negatively. And it is a mistake for 4-Free to get pulled into promoting their shams just because something is “free”.

Hey Steven!
It’s just a third party promotion we have found. We’re not advertising them.
As you can see it’s rather the opposite situation because we give the possibility to friends like you to speak loud and clear against this kind of scams.
I hope you have seen we have already received your message and highlighted it here:
http://for-free-on-internet.com/2009/06/highlighted-comments-infos-or-reviews-coming-from-the-community/
After all it was a very usefull exercise and you can see that the community reaction ( starting with yours ) was obviously the right one. This software was practically rejected !
Thank you very much for your reaction!
Best regards!
Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the info on the Paragon promotions though (and many others). I used their partition software tonite for the first time, and although I had some bumps (my fault, not Paragons, I put in two primary partitions, now fixed with UBCD4) I am always quite impressed with their software. Their image software I also like, although it has not gotten the full test since I avoid image restores
. Just want to finish the night on an up-note to 4-Free !

Steven

Well Steven! … I hate to do this but I will spoil your good impression about Paragon.
( but not about the quality of their products )
Have you received the recent promo email from Paragon … Where they recommend the … Uniblue products ?
Hi Folks,
Yep, I am thinking of sending them a bit of a response ! Saw it last night I think. Paragon apparently got suckered into the affiliate thing. Sad to see. However at this time their own software remains excellent. Let’s give them a cordial earful.
Appreciate your forum, able to really have a bit of solid discussion.

Hi
I downloaded this and tried the XXXXXX serial number but it doesnt work — says invalid serial number
Does anyone have a working serial number?
Thanks in anticipation
Hi!
You’re saying the serial provided by Uniblue himself is not working ?
… With the download they provide in the same email ?!
Very strange!
Speed up my PC is a very good program, but I seem to want to install all 3 of their programs.
They work very well together to get your computer in shape, but I do have to be careful.
Sometimes it’s a little too aggressive and I have to pay extra attention to my choices.
I wouldn’t class this as a beginner software.
Winutilites, or Tunup Utilites are safer to use.
Hi again (2) !
I purchased SpeedUpMyPC last year and it downloaded, installed and worked as it should. I then had to redownload and reinstall the program, but now, like Emily June 16, 2009, I am getting the same message: “SUMP has encountered a problem and need to close” and consequently I cannot open the program. I tried her solution of not sending (or don’t send) the error report and just letting the program load. Unfortunately that does not seem to be working for me. Any suggestions as to how I can get this program to launch? Thanks.
