Virtual CD 8 - 4 Free ( Outdated )

Hi friends!

65 % of our visitors are using Window XP OS ! So the other 35 % will kindly accept that this qualitative find can be useful for a majority.

Note that we have already informed by email the 174 qualified “4 Freers”about this up-to-XP aspect.

BTW : beside the 174 above-mentioned friends there are at least 30 friends - active recently - who have not shared their software giveaway wishes. Please note that THAT simple fact will qualify you for the email pre-notification.

This oldie-but-goldie comes from fake91 and the 4 Free Tream. Thank you fake91 !

OK ! There are free alternatives like  : Alcohol 52% Free EditionDAEMON Tools, Virtual Clone Drive, Microsoft Virtual CD Control Panel , etc … ,

… but - if we are not wrong - none of them has so many features like THE Virtual CD from H+H Software GmbH a german ( yup ! :-) ) specialist in application management in networks.

This is not the latest version - Virtual CD 9 ( worth $ 39,95 ) - so this is what you do not get:

- Vista-compatibility
- Incremental extension of images
- Fast access to Toolbox programs
- Smart Virtual CD drives now compatible with USB flash drives
- Unlimited number of virtual burners
- Comparison Wizard
- Improved Quick Start utility
- Snapshot function
- Grouping function
- Job Execution
- Extended options for creating images
# Permit overwriting
# Create ISO images using copy templates

Read details HERE

But the up-to-XP users shouldn’t worry too much because they still got an imppresive amount of tools !

.

.

What Virtual CD can do for you
Virtual CD makes your CD/DVD applications faster, more efficient, and easier to use, by storing them in the form of “virtual CDs” on your hard drive using highly effective data compression techniques.

Once you’ve made a virtual CD from a physical CD or DVD, simply ‘insert’ it in a virtual drive to run it. Virtual drives behave just like physical drives, and are displayed in the same manner in your Windows Explorer.

Key benefits with Virtual CD v8 :

• both the 32-bit Windows system and Windows x64 are supported
• your CD/DVD-based applications are much faster, because the CDs run from your hard drive rather than from the CD-ROM drive
• you don’t have to bother with inserting and removing physical CDs—let alone having to look for them in the first place!
• you can run your CDs on computers that don’t even have physical CD drives
• you can use multiple CDs simultaneously – no need for an expensive CD changer!
• the first available physical CD drive can also run virtual CDs
• your valuable original CDs/DVDs won’t get lost or damaged
• you also get a virtual CD/DVD burner that can be addressed by any program that can write data on CDs
• your notebook conserves precious battery power, because you don’t have to run an energy-hogging CD/DVD drive—and you no longer need a physical CD/DVD burner
• your workplace is quieter, because CD/DVD drive noise is eliminated
• a denoiser function is included that makes your physical CD drives quieter
• you can make physical back-ups of your virtual CDs using Smart Virtual CD technology
• you can choose whether to permit the use of physical CDs on a given computer
• the CD Management program gives you intuitive, centralized control of all Virtual CD features, with a window layout that you can customize
• you can use encryption to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data on virtual CDs

New Features in Version 8

• Supports Windows XP x64.
• The “Virtual CD Burner” program integrates direct support for burning CDs and DVDs. This support is application-independent, because the virtual CD writer is addressed just like a physical CD writer. You can create virtual blank media quickly and easily with the new Blank Media Wizard.
• The virtual CD burner supports encrypted virtual DVD-RAMs, which can be used as encrypted hard drives for sensitive data.
• The Toolbox provides a handy shortcut to all the most important controls, with tasks sorted by category.
• The following features have been added to the Script Generator:
• ISO images can now be integrated.
• The same script that inserts a virtual CD can also have that CD ejected automatically when a program is closed.
• You can execute a script by double-clicking on a desktop shortcut.
• A test function is available for testing scripts before saving the final version.

• Another new feature lets you run a virtual CD in a physical drive. This has been integrated for applications that require their program CD in the first available physical CD drive.
• The Quick Start utility has been completely revised and now provides direct access to all of the main functions.
• The API for integrating Virtual CD into other programs or scripts has been revised and expanded. To open the PDF file with detailed information on the Virtual CD API, select “Start / Programs / Virtual CD v8 / API documentation.”
• Improved data-reading capabilities make it even easier to make CDs with special
formats.

• Revised shell extension with improved configuration features; for example, you can select where new virtual CDs will be displayed any time you activate a program (Image Wizard, Image Converter, etc.) that writes virtual CDs.
• Thanks to the improved layout function in Virtual CD Management, it is easier
than ever to access existing layouts.
• You can open a view of virtual CD properties from the CD Management program
as well as from the Quick Start utility and the shell extension.
• The new display of drive properties for CD drives shows information on the
selected drive.

• The new denoiser helps cut down on noise from physical CD drives.
• Improvements in fine details and adaptations to the new features have been
made in many of the programs that make up the Virtual CD software suite.

Hmmm…They use the same reg key
Even older programs are important to let people try them out.
Purchasing newer versions at discounted pricing through some of the finds on your site allows for acquiring excellent software in today’s tight economy.

    Hi Jeff!
You’re absolutely right. You can upgrade these older but very qualitative promotions for very low prices.

GREAT SOFTWARE! Unfortunately I’ll have to wait a little longer for you to find a Vista compatible one! Top notch job guys and fake91. On the other hand…. at home I have XP… hummmm… and my son’s laptop has XP…..might be good idea to grab it.
    tks again

Instead of saving CDs as virtual disks, I just save the contents of the CDs into my hard-drive. This makes it for almost all of the functions of the software listed. You still do not have a virtual burner, but then most burning software allows burning to *.iso files on the hard-drive.

I see more applications of this in my car and my music system (where I need real CDs) but alas there’s no way to install this software there!

I am thinking of passing, unless I see comments from people convincing me otherwise.

PS: The above comments apply to the software, not to the good work of the 4 Free team!

    1 point
Hi Alok! Imho the virtualization takes less space than the simple copy/save of the content. ( beside all those benefits described in the article )
    Thank you!

It was hinted that it would not be an OS virtualizaton software, but I certainly was not expecting a CD/DVD vitualization tool. I am a long time user of Daemon Tools, which does a great job at optical drive emulation, It however does not allow you to create virtual discs or simple ISOs for that matter. I’d imagine a single solution to both create and read virtual discs/ISO images greatly simplifies the workflow. That alone stirs my interest of Virtual CD.

I have never really required or needed to create my own virtual cd/dvds, but it is an appealing concept and I now have the tools to do so. I am anxious to see how Virtual CD 8 stacks up to Daemon Tools at least in ease of use and functionality as far as CD/DVD drive emulation is concerned. Thanks Fake91 and 4Free.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for another great find!

Unfortunately you managed to test my sanity in the process. In the “Still Valid for Free” sidebar, clicking the Virtual CD link brings you to the Uniblue promotion while clicking the Uniblue link brings you to the Virtual CD promo. This has caused my nice neat view of the world to crumble. Consequently, I am off to take some more “medication”. :)

Take care and have a good day.

PS: In a serious vein, why does your spam filter keep kicking out my comments? Frequently, I have to enter them 2 or 3 times to get the comment to moderation.

thanks 4free team, very important hot find.( vista capability will defeat it in compare with Alcohol 52% in my computer).
but for xp users it’s best virtual drive.
as my experience this program is very powerful in bypassing bad sectors .
you can pause image progress and remove disk to clean it and also you can resume without inserting the disk , you can use this as a trick to bypass a big bad sector area quickly , and program will fill that zone in the image with zero.

    3 points
    Thanks for the infos mohsen!

To Alok and Smooth Talker, I do the same, with this program you can save the CD/DVD as a folder, mount that CD/DVD and use it, and if you have files on the CD/DVD that you can do with out delete them or add new files to the CD/DVD and if you want to save to a real CD/DVD you can Burn to a real Disk and go from there. I don’t know if this will do an exact copy over riding copy protection for game, audio or video but that isn’t important to me. You can load image files created by other programs and do what ever you need to. I have only had the for a couple of hours but if you have used Daemon Tools, magic ISO, Nero image, clone CD/DVD, 120, or others get this even if you don’t think you need it now. I may find out later that it’s junk but I seriously don’t think so

But it does not overpass DRM like Alcohol.

I used CloneCD a lot, and still do sometimes, even though it creates its own image formats that only work with their Slysoft software. Anyway, the last version of that has become outdated by now. So, I am curious to play a bit with this one. Frankly speaking, I had never heard of it, and Raymond did not include it in his survey of CD emulators some months ago. In sum, I am curious how this one will turn out.

Ok I didn’t manage to make a working copy of my fuck!*?° securom protected dvd BUT in some case this program shoud help.

Not only does it claims to “Make a 1:1 copy” (which is a good start…) but when you select “Create a virtual CD” you can see different profiles: normal copy, exact copy, geometry copy, RAW copy with sub-channels…
If you prefer switch to expert mode, you can choose your options… for instance, ask to use raw mode (which means copying the disc sector by sector regardless of its (logical) content), and to include or not sub-channels (which are datas normally unaccessible through Windows normal CD reading).

In my case, I can’t tick these two checkboxes, as its says it is unable to read raw datas and sub-channels in a DVD
    (CD-only functions)…

Sad… but surely useful from time to time.
And speaking about securom, once you have your perfect 1:1 copy, you still must hide virtual drive to trick securom (it refuses to launch if it detects emulation software)

Off-topic, but I read in a French download site (clubic) that this program only supports its own virtual cd proprietary format (vc4).
This is perfectly false. It can create ISO files (although its not the default setting) and mount ISO files…

thank you for the new feedback, Franck!

… it refuses to launch if it detects emulation software

This is crazy ( but I believe you ) !

    From the “New features”

The following features have been added to the Script Generator:
    • ISO images can now be integrated.

I think Clubic guys have kept the presentation from V 7.
    Best regards!

PS: I add (because I’m quite upset about it) that securom is a real crap!
(but terribly efficient I must say, unfortunately…)
