Corel PaintShop Pro X - 4 Free ! ( Outdated )

Hi friends!

We all remember the last promotion for the same product lasted a few hours so go and grab it, if you need this software !

Not the latest version X 2 ( worth $49.99  ) or Ultimate ($ 79,99 ) but it has all you actually need for photo-editing, for sure.

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X makes photo editing easy with everything from automatic photo fixes to precision editing tools. Correct mistakes, make good photos better and create one-of-a-kind photo projects.

Features:

View, organize and edit photos quickly
* Rotate, resize, crop, straighten and remove red eye fast in Express Lab mode
* Import photos automatically, including raw images
* View thumbnails of all images on your hard drive
* Tag photos with keywords for easy reference
* Search for photos by filename, folder name, keyword tag, caption text or image metadata

Express Lab
This easy photo fixing mode helps you view and correct dozens of photos in the time it used to take to edit just a few. The Express Lab lets you edit photos without opening each image file individually, so your workflow runs seamlessly!
*  Get photos from your PC, camera or scanner automatically
* Adjust photo details, such as brightness, shadows, highlights and saturation
* Rotate, resize, crop, straighten and remove red eye
* Retouch and restore to remove flaws

Autopreserve Originals
Automatically store a copy of your original photo when saving an edited version.

Crop to New Image
Quickly separate multiple images that you scanned at the same time. This tool automatically creates a new file from the cropped area and keeps the original scan open so you can easily separate individual image files from the group scan.

Camera Raw Support
Download photos from your camera to computer effortlessly, including raw image formats produced by many digital cameras. By working with these “digital negatives,” you can achieve the results you want with greater artistic control and flexibility, without overwriting the original raw files.

Support for Over 50 Formats
View photos and video clips in more than 50 file formats. Easily import files and ensure accurate color quality for your images.

Share Photos Instantly
Email photos or slide shows to family and friends.

Retouch your photos like a pro
* Retouch with unique makeover tools to look your best in photos you print or post online
* Whiten teeth, smooth wrinkles and remove blemishes with a few clicks
* Edit quickly with easy tools
* Cover distractions or remove unwanted objects
* Change the color of anything in your photo
* Remove noise, grain or discolorations

Makeover Tools
Make sure the people in your photos look their best with tools that are fun and easy to use. Help your subjects look thinner in seconds, whiten bloodshot eyes, smooth wrinkles, paint on a tan and remove blemishes.

Smart Photo Fix
Instantly correct lighting and color problems with automated tools, or make manual corrections on your own.

Red Eye Removal
Eliminate red eye in one click or use advanced red-eye removal that even works on pets.

Color Changer
Easily change the color of objects in your digital photos, such as clothing, walls and furniture. Rather than simply replacing a color, the Color Changer detects and analyzes variations in brightness, then makes the necessary adjustments to produce a realistic effect.

Enhance with professional tools

* Combine exposures to get full details in highlights and shadows
* Simulate black & white film or convert to sepia
* Adjust levels, curves or histogram settings
* Fix brightness, color, contrast, saturation and sharpness
* Experiment with more advanced editing tools by fine-tuning details on your own

    Wow nice find!!

I don’t actually need it myself because a couple of years ago I bought PSP X1 and then *won* a copy of PSP X2 (and a Wacom Bamboo Tablet!), the runner-up prize in a Corel Photo competition. In fact if anyone would like to see my “winning” entry (which took literally less than 5 minutes to create in X1 (I’d already created the same effect in PSP7), and most of that was waiting for my ancient laptop to respond :-) then take a peek here: http://picasaweb.google.com/efotografo/BeforeAndAfter#.

    Enjoy!

    Hi!

  23. mayur
    14 July, 2009

I got this promo last time itself. I have used the previous
version too and using it for a while. I too have used
PhotoShop. And here is a short feedback about this one.
    Well its a mixed bag.

    Pros
    1) User/Beginner friendly Interface; You can customize
the interface by changing the toolbar and menu items to
    suit your needs.
2)It is more faster than the previous version and has all
the rich set of tools/options to do your effects.
3)Image correction technique is very good and just a click
    or two is enough.
4)The learning center is really good and very useful.
5)The blemish remover tool is an added gift.So if you
want to remove a pimple or a spot, it works.(Very quickly
you can do it). Moreover you can whiten the teeth.
6)The Lens Distortion Correction tool and Chromatic
Aberration remover are added advantages too.
7)You can do most of the actions using mouse itself.
(very less keyboard usage). This makes things easy.
8)Fast photo enhancing can be done by Smart Photo Fix.
9)It has a Python Scripting engine, that allows you to
    automate tasks.
10)Web developers too have a lot of tools here to create
images, including the HTML source code.

    Cons
    1)photo organizer is poor.
    2)animation shop is missing.
3)Actually it loads the pictures automatically from my PC
and it uses the memory to a great extend.
4)No big tech support, as in the case of PhotoShop.
5)Its difficult to migrate from the older version.
6)Although it is easy to use than PhotoShop, it too uses
    large amount of resources.
7)Using Image Browser is a hell.

So in my opinion part time digital photographers are gonna
be benefited from this tool. If you don’t like PhotoShop, then
this is a must have. Well according to me, if you need a
great support community and more professional oriented
one then PhotoShop is the only way.

Thanks but i got this a month or two ago.
If you disable or uninstall the ‘Protexis Licensing Service’ the program will either not run at all or will re-install the service. There are various hacks about to disable it but they never worked for me. There is quite a bit of debate about this service on the web with some people getting high CPU usage with the PSIService.exe and others branding it spyware. Google PSIService.exe.

To disable the annoying nag screen (make sure PSP is not running) :-
Open ‘C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X\PCUUI\Container.htm’ in notepad.

Erase all the text and replace it with the following…

    location=”pcucmd://Cancel?confirm=no”;

    Save it. Worked for me.

  40. Just A Guy Trying To Help
    14 July, 2009

    Another great find for-free-on-internet.com!

There seems to be an issue with Protexis PSIService (is it spyware or not?)
If you want to Disable it and still have Paint Shop Pro 10 work.

This little tip (was for v11) but it seems to work just fine for v10 (original credit: Spyware Killer)

Start>Run> Type services.msc and press Enter. Stop ProtexisLicensing
Start>Run> Type sc delete ProtexisLicensing and press Enter
(ProtexisLicensing will be removed from services list)

    Delete PSIService.exe from C:\WINDOWS\system32
    Copy PSIKey.dll from C:\WINDOWS\system32 to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X and rename PSIKey.dll to PSIClient.dll

With hal9000’s suggestion…this is the perfect solution.

I hope this might help someone. I also hope it is okay to post this here.

    3 points
    Hi!
I have already seen these workarounds on different sites, but never tried them.( especially now, when I’m on vacation :-) )
The beginners not understanding what this is all about should better avoid it and just live with that nag screen and PSI service. It’s not so big deal, after all.
    Appreciate your will to help.

Related to “Protexis Licensing Service” I´ll try to translate and explain what I´ve found in the forums (note that some expressions may only be “similar” to MSs because I have no english Windows)

    What is ProtexisLicensing?
The PSIService.exe belongs to Protexis Copyprotection- and Licensemanagement-Software which is co-installed e.g. with many Corel programs. After installation and updates of the related programs in theorie this service can be removed securely without affecting the main program. It is suspected to make sometimes troubles on certain machines, so let´s find out how to get rid of it…

    ——————————————————
== METHOD 1 for newer “Protexis Licensing Service v2″ which is necessary for proper function: you can start the service shortly before you start PaintShop and then stop it, after Paintshop has loaded. You can make a short loader like this:
open text editor and create a file called “StartPaintshop.cmd”
    ——————
    @echo off
    REM START COPYPROTECTION
    net start “Protexis Licensing V2″

REM START PROGRAM, USE YOUR PATH AND PROGRAM EXE NAME
    start “C:\Programme\Corel\Paintshop10\Paintshop.exe”

REM WAIT UNTIL PROGRAM HAS LOADED
    wait 10

    REM STOP COPYPROTECTION
    net stop “Protexis Licensing V2″

    exit
    ——————
“wait.exe” can be downloaded here http://www.ppedv.de/dwnld/wait.zip
    best copy it to c:\Windows\system32

    ——————————————————
    == METHOD 2 -Completely remove Protexis services ( Run –> “services.msc”
    or
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Services and Applications -> Services

Open the service “ProtexisLicensing” by doubleclicking on it and
    a. SHUT IT DOWN and
    b. Set it to DEACTIVATED

    or more direct (Windows 2000/XP)
    Start > Run –> “cmd”
enter the follwing 2 command lines:
    sc stop “ProtexisLicensing”
    sc delete “ProtexisLicensing”

    2.
DELETE PSIClient.dll in your program directory e.g. \programs\corel\corel paint shop pro xx\
    (make a backup before)

    3.
    DELETE REGISTRY ENTRY [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ProtexisLicensing]
    Start > Run –> “regedit”
    find the entry
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ProtexisLicensing]
delete it, exit the registry editor

    4.
    RESTART WINDOWS

    5.
    DELETE PSISService.exe IN \Windows\system32

    6.
    a.CUT PSIKey.dll FROM \Windows\system32
b.PASTE IT to your program directory e.g. \programs\corel\corel paint shop pro xx\
    c.rename it to PSIClient.dll

    7.
PREAPARE DEVICE MANAGER TO SHOW “hidden services” BY CREATING A SYSTEN VARIABLE
Rightklick the “Workspace” Icon (in VISTA rightclick on “Computer” Symbol)
    or
    Start -> Control Panel >System Settings ->System ->Properties ->Extended
    (VISTA: ->extended system settings)

    ->Environment Variables ->
->create NEW SYSTEM VARIABLE “devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices” with value “1″

    8.
    OPEN DEVICE MANAGER
    Start -> Run –> “devmgmt.msc”
    or
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> System Tools -> Device Manager

    enable “show hidden devices”

Delete “ProtexyLicensing” (can be found in “Not-PNP-drivers)

After this a little bit tricky procedure ProtexyLicensing services should be history… If you want to update the program, you´ve probably to reinstall Protexy before …

That was an easy get–so much simpler that GiveAway, plus installation does not require monitoring and exporting system changes during installation so that you can re-apply registry and file changes made by “free for one day only” commercial software offers if you later have to rebuild your system. The last version I used was PS Pro 4, but sometimes Adobe PhotoShop is just too big for simpler jobs. My initial look at Corel PS Pro X finds many tools for most common tasks. Got it the first time around, now that is real software worth the time to download. Checking though, does this still have the horrible nag screen?
    Procedure to remove nag screen:

Hi 4free. Thanks for this one too.
I used PSP7 Pro long time ago and I´m glad for the chance to check the changes since then.

I’m having the same problem as Jeanjean. I just downloaded the 2nd time and attempted install on different windows XP version, but same problem. I had to go into task manager and kill proccess (msiexec.exe) to get it stopped. Does anyone know what might cause this?

This program is a good illustration of why “not current version” programs are more than sufficient for 99% of users, 99% of the time. This is particularly true of a “mature” program like PaintShop Pro, which has been a top seller for over a decade. Basically, all the essential features of an application, and a workable GUI, are developed within the first 2 or 3 release versions–or the product dies. The features which are added after that tend to be more and more specialized, and of less usefulness to the average user, or even a power user who is not also heavily involved in the specific field. A professional photographer might benefit from the latest version of this, but few others. In sum, don’t feel like you ever have to apologize for offering something which is not the “latest and greatest.” Thanks for finding this offer.

Thanks to “Just a guy trying to help” and “sibi” for their instructions on removing the Protexis Licensing for my PSP X2. I used the simpler instructions by Just a guy and it works! No more Protexis running constantly! There’s no need for this to be running once it’s installed, it just junk. Thanks again guys!

Skipping this as I already have the earlier download.

Anyways in regards to the Protexis issue above, Corel actually clarified the status of it here http://coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2008/02/08/comments-regarding-the-protexis-licensing-service.aspx

    4 points
Very important! Thank you WKS !

To summarize, the Protexis Service will never connects to the internet except when the product is activated online. In addition to that, it does not access any data other than the Corel product-licensing and registration information, and it does not negatively affect or interfere with your computer or its Internet access.

Nobody seemed able to answer my question and these of Maynard C, I thus searched on the internet …

And I have a new question : finally, is this program compatible with XP or not ???

    Hi!
We have installed it on XP SP3 … It’s working great … Doesn’t have the problem you and Maynard have mentioned.
The best solution is to contact the support from Corel, don’t you think?

Thanks very much for this. I’ve used several older versions of Paint Shop Pro. The last one I bought was version 7. It’s still on my computer, and I still use it when I can’t figure out how to do something “simple” in PhotoShop. I always found PSP much more user friendly, especially if the user isn’t a photo expert (and I’m NOT).

Suggest to amend the download link to the following URL:

    http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Development/LexarPSPBundlePromo&lc=en&trkid=CJ

This new link is just removing the SID=xxxxxxxxxx parameter in the original link.
If everyone downloading are using the same SID (Site ID), Corel may become suspicious and stop the promo prematurely.
    Hope this helps!

    Thank you for the suggestion!
    It’s done now.
But don’t worry about Corel stopping the promo - they have make it available again for an obvious marketing purpose.

    To Maynard :
The solution ? : “We have gotten reports from some stating the Paint Shop Pro X installion stops and hangs on the “Registering Modules” portion of the install. The article below will walk you through resolving this issue….

1.Shut your machine down and restart it.
2.Run the installation for Paint Shop Pro X.
3.When the install hangs do a Ctrl + Alt + Del keyboard combination to bring up the Windows Task Manager.
    4.Click on the Processes Tab.
5.Click on Image Name (column) to alphabetize the list.
6.Look for the Msiexec.exe processes that are running.
7.Look for the instance of Msiexec.exe labeled System in the User Name column.
8.Observe th amount of CPU and Memory (check CPU and Mem Usage columns) to find the Msiexe.exe System process that is using a large amount.
9.Left click on this instance Msiexec.exe to highlight it.
10.Click the End Process button in the lower right corner of the Windows Task Manager.
== >The installation should continue and finish”

    Hi Folks,
Corel is another photo editing app i have spent a lot of time playing, i mean working with. Some of its effects are awesome….its a little buggy when it first opens but is well worth the 10 second wait.
Compared to the high end adobe’s its doin real good and its not costing the 500 bills either.
I have pulled a few really cool photo jobs using corel….i’d nearly post an image or two but don’t think it’s allowed.

    Get it, its free LOL
