East-Tec Backup 2009 - 4 Free ( Outdated )

Hi friends!

Like said in the email notification the AV find will be published tomorrow. We have serious reasons to postpone it. It’s hard to find quality softwares in free promotions but it’s even harder to publish them in legal conditions, believe us!

Nevertheless today we are telling you about another great find: a free promotion for the latest version of East-Tec Backup 2009 ( US 39.95 ), shared with us by Kartheek D. N.,  two days ago. Thank you !

So after the tip to get Titan 2,5 ( latest version ) and Bacup4All Lite free promotion, here’s how to grab for free the latest version of another qualitative backup software.

Last time we have published a found promotion without really trying the software, the reaction in comments ( great feedbacks ) was awesome. Now we know we can count on a big help from those of you having the time to try this software … Because we obviously did not try it enough.

So please feel free to give us more detailed reactions in comments, if you install East-Tec Backup 2009.

As a first impression, after one or two basic backups, this software seems to have a great quality.

- It’s the last version,  Vista compatible ;

- it has the set of tools anyone could need for his backups ( including a nice Sync module );

- It works fast and flawless ( at least for the simple trials we’ve done )

According to the developer :

East-Tec Backup 2009 backs up and protects the files and data you care about. East-Tec Backup 2009 is very easy to use and features intuitive wizards, automatic backups, data compression, strong military AES encryption and FTP support.

.

.

Key Features and Benefits:

* Back up all data you care about: files, folders, documents, emails, photos, address book, computer and program settings
* Back up data and settings from your favorite programs (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, and more)

I was hoping to be able to get the AV software today because I won’t be home for a week. :(

At least I got this software. Thanks!

Also, when will you release the AV in approx. of hours?

Hi ! We’re just waiting for an official mail confirmation.

I’ve always wondered why EastTech Backup and Titan Backup (now under new ownereship and called GFI Backup) are not just similar, but virtually identical. In appearance, options and operation, one struggles to find any significant difference between the two.
And since GFI Backup is already available to everyone for free, this one gets a big yawn. I’m still looking forward to the next Hot Find, though!

    2 points
    Hi !
Let’s hope that GFI will keep the original quality from Titan.
Backup4All and East-Tec are known software developers. At least you know they care about their product.
GFI is a company who bought Titan’s product. They haveprove their good faith and to assure the right development.
    Time will tell.
For the moment I trust more Backup4All and East-Tec - the original developers … Than a multinational group like GFI.
    Regards!

Something is funny. Titan backup is now GFI backup which is freeware. The screenshots of East-tec backup are directly matching that of GFI backup except for the company name and logo!

Great little promo. What I like is this appears to be a full featured program as opposed to a “lite” version. (And when you are in need of a full featured backup program, you want to make sure you can count on it!)

Thanks. Great software. I just got a 500 GB backup drive, and this will work on it! I like the sync feature, too. Better than just a straight backup as sometimes I want to keep folders (like my image folder - which I’m constantly moving things around in) in sync rather than just copied.

    Free 1-year licence for A-Squared Anti-Malware!
This hot tip just came in from Gizmo on TechSupport Alert, who got it from Rick Farrow. That means it’s no longer even close to secret, but people here should know about it, in case they haven’t heard elsewhere.
    http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/get-squared-a2-anti-malware-free-12-months.htm.
This would appear to be one of those exceptional cases where the pre-eminent product in its category is giving itself away for free (for a year, anyway). Good news!

    2 points
    Hi Bruce!
It’s already in our Latest Important News article. JeffV was much faster than you ( yesterday ).
And there are other 4 guys who told also told us yesterday about it.
I’m curious how did you draw the conclusion that it is EMSI - the developer who’s giving away himself his software. There is nothing on the official site.
There are some more explanations on the net but this is not our business, anyway.
    Cheers!

Despite my earlier ho-hum attitude to the East Tec Backup, I went ahead and downloaded and installed it anyway. Guess I’ve got the freebie bug. I wasn’t able to enter the key following the directions given above (which are the same as on the East Tech website). Here’s what worked for me:
    1) Start the program.
    2) Go to About - Change key.
That will give you the dialog box where you can enter your name and licence key.

    2 points
The truth is you can enter the key when installing … But you also must re-register through the About section when you open the application for the first time.
    I have no idea why.
    Cheers!

    Hi guys…
    I compared Titan 2.5 (8,13 Mo) with this East-Tec Backup 2009 (14 Mo)
Single file backup with encrpt (10,6 Kb .jpg file)
    ETB 2009: 19 sec, 49% compression ratio and 291 bytes/s transfer speed
    Titan 2,5: 11 sec, 52% compression ratio and 5.09 Kb/s transfer speed

Titan shows its speed with a smaller installer and an identical GUI (I dont know for the program is it identical or not since I’m not capable to answer. Hehe..).
If one like speed very much just go to option > task setting and untick use the volume shadow blah blah.. (first line) than the result will be 1 sec only (from the test above).
    Thanks… and Good day guys

    Hi!
There”s no need to ask permission from any site.
If you credit your sources honestly the internet and common sense rules allow you to publish any subject.
Those doing the contrary are just proving their low education and crook aptitudes.
They don’t realise that the public understands, sooner or later, their lack of human quality. Loosing the respect of your visitors is the worst possible situation for a blogger.
But well …Their education, their choice ..

Yes, it is identical to GFI Backup Home. But I since I hadn`t tried either one, I installed East-Tec and liked it instantly. It has support for backing up settings and data from browsers and mail-clients, Windows settings and Registry. And thats all I need in addition to backing up my documents. New backup-jobs are easy to configure, and I liked the option to place a shortcut for a quick backup on the desktop. I know it`s more secure to schedule backups, but on the other hand it`s annoying when backups start automatically while you`re working on something important and cpu-intensive. Although East-Tec doesn`t consume much ressources (10-20 MB of memory during backup, and 1,5MB when idle on my pc) I prefer to start the job when I know I don`t need my machine. Will I keep East-Tec? Yes, definitely! Thanx 4free!

p.s.: if you are reading this after the promotion expired - just grab GFI Backup Home Edition!

    Thank you Bilko!

Downloaded and installed, then opened up next to my Titan 2.5. They look virtually the same, as others have noted. The new GFI version, according to the comments at http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-backup-program, will not allow backing up from Titan and restoring from GFI, nor can you import settings.
I did discover that you CAN backup with Titan and restore with East-Tec, but have not discovered how to import settings (copying the tasks folder contents between them in Program Files didn’t work, and I decided it would be best to leave exploring the registry alone. There were Titan task entries and no East-Tec entries, as I hadn’t set up any tasks there yet.
all in all - Use whichever program you like - they work the same. When combined with the Paragon Disk Manager previously acquired one has probably the perfect solution for managing backups and disks.
Now finding one that can be included as a portable app on my usb would be killer!

also - Since East-Tec reads Titan backups, I would go with it vs GFI, not only to retain access to current backups, but for upgrading down the road as well.

Given the number of fine disk-imaging programs available, I don’t see why anyone still uses file-based backup. I’ve found disk imaging to be faster for either backup or restore, and more accurate at restoring the entire system state or individual files/folder. I realize I may be missing something, so I’d be interested in hearing what you or any of the other readers see as the advantages of this type of backup over disk image.

    2 points
    Hi !
The first answer is that there are some files/folders one might want to backup more frequently that the whole disk. Why imaging the entire disk when you can simply backup your needed files/folders ?
For example “My Images” or “My Videos” folders … Or the whole My Documents folder.
The best is to do differential backup for the files/folders you’re frequently changing.
I imagine you do an image of your disk once in a while and not everyday .
