How to grab O&O DiskImage 3,5 Professional for free ?
This is another promotion on the german site Softwareload.de .
Important note: it seems that the promotion for the Special Version 3,5 build 45 , provides a german-only installer. This is bad news, unless someone find how to revert it to the english version.
The good news is that the licence key supplied by the german promotion works with the latest available build ( 26 ) on the official site and other important download portals. So one should only grab the licence key from the german promotion and use it on the english version installer.
Like in the CyberLink Power Director 7Ultra and Babylon 7 or 8 cases you must first register on that site. If you already have an account just sign in and go directly to the next step.
This promotion is on a german site - Softwareload.de - so we’ll use a few more screenshots than usual to help you grabb the promotion fast and easy.
0. First you must register on the german site.
0.1. Register on this german download portal here. Just fill in your names and email address, take care at the “captcha filter” and click on “Weiter” ( and oh! … Choose “herr” or “frau” )

UPDATE
For getting the English version of O&O Disk Image Start-CD (ISO) the solution comes from hal9000:
When you boot the ISO it asks for language, keyboard and timezone. All languages and timezones are there but it defaults to +1hr GMT and a German keyboard. Just change to what you want and off you go.

We have tried the installation and registration for the Brothersoft’s installer and everything was OK!
Very important note: You must fill in the 3 fields with these exact datas when registering :
In the field “Name”: the declared email address
In the field “Company”: “For Personal Use Only” ( without the quotation marks )
In the field “License#”: your personal license key
We strongly recommend O&O Disk Image 3,5 Pro but we shouldn’t forget the excellent Macrium Reflect free Edition, when we talk about disk imaging!

I think I’ll have a play with this while i wait for the AV HF. The O&O products I’ve iused have all been pretty good. They do a free ‘Express’ version on the website but that can’t even restore a system partition!!!. Another good find. Thanks.

But if you don’t find it you can simply contact the O&O support and show them you have a legal key from PCWelt promotion , but you would kindly ask them for the english version. ( for other persons in your family )

Thank You Man! Really, yesterday, before your announcement, the whole day I spent to solve this registration on English version. I do not know what happened. The registration code worked fine with any name, no company name and reg code on German version but did not worked same way on Brothersoft’s English version. If it could work, I would have told you, already. The update is, this code with your instruction is still not working on English version. I do not know why it is.
BTW, this OO can not be installed on Windows 7. I tested it on XP Pro.

Hi! Those registration problems are strange indeed.
I am curious whether this will work for me, because due to my hardware configuration (dual boot, with secondly installed OS as the primary boot up - a very complicated issue) I had crashes with other imaging software. Thanks

In response to the ISO you can get, the German version is also English. Just tested it on a VM. All you have to do is alter your keyboard and timezone. Job done!

Here’s one who tried the O&O Disk Image Start-CD (ISO) for sure !
im using O&O Clevercache and find it really works! its quite a feat to understand the internal memory management of windows, yet they knew what we are doing. With this O&O DiskImage, im pretty sure it will work very well too.

Thanks for info I cant check it since my only RW is 210mb ;p (lol i know) and no CDs around..
but..
I have some news for You and it ain’t pretty. First some very good points:
+ It managed to make my system’s image in ~11 minutes (14+6 GB of data see below)
+ I didn’t have to restart my PC, go into some restricted modes (Volume Shadow Copy?) to make image of system partition
+ Skips Hibernation and Swap files (around 6GB for me as I have 3GB of RAM)
+ Clean interface
The Bad:
- Very low compression rate (almost 9GB of image for ~15GB of data)
- While creating image it keeps temp file what in overall takes twice as much space as image
- While creating image I saw that around 4GB were used on drive C (what could explain huge image size if that data was also included, but that’s unlikely)
And this is very bad in my opinion, in case You ask why, well I usually keep at least 2 copies new and previous one and I know what changes I’ve made between them (I have own log with all changes to the system between all updates) Additional 2GB (images usually take around 7GB) means 4GB of loss that’s a lot for me.
But if You don’t really care about size of image it’s a really great choice. I think I’ll just ask guys from support to explain how it makes system partition image without exclusive access.

Nice find guys, think I will try this one out. I’ve always relied on Acronis True Image for this kind of work, but it never hurts to have a standby solution in case there’s ever a problem with one’s primary tools. Thanks again for providing another quality product.

I tried to register with e-mail address live.com but it didn’t work so I tried yahoo.com and that worked. live .com worked for everything up until this. I installed it and it is fairly fast now all I need is the boot ISO and I’ll be set. Thank you again this is a good one. How are you making out on the security program any luck yet? Looking forward to the security program if it comes ans if not no biggy I’m sure other stuff will be “found”.

You guys should have mentioned that if you created the account for the Babylon 7/8 offer, that you could have skipped all the preliminary steps and gone straight to step 1.1. That’s what I did and after loging in with my first offer’s account, I just completed the rest of the steps, no problem. I also noticed something else, Softwareland keeps track of all your “purchase” under your account. Ever need to download the software again? Just go back to your account, no need to go through a specific 4Free page.

i have found that the cd image that you can download is a complete waste of time. you end up cliking through the cds folders until you find the install file OODI_32_PRO.exe, which is the same as OODiskImage3ProfessionalEnu.exe, downloadable from O&O and is only 10mb. the cd image is 300mb and is a complete waste of time.
if you have problems running this software with vista, then you can right click on install file, properties, compatability, and tick the box to run in windows xp sp2 compatability. it crashed my pc, until i retried this way.

Seems like a nice alternative to paragon. Although it is not the latest version (4.0.191). The freeware version is unusable, because it only lets you backup your complete system. I wouldn’t know where to put my 1GB backup. Downloaded the english setup, installs and registers fine with the aquired key.

Congrats Alok for the find…
It seems pretty and very user-friendly. I did only a brief test, but it was actually quite trycky to find where to set up backup options (compression level, compression, what to skip and no to skip…) because as soon as you say you want a backup, it goes to the second tab (whereas the options are in the first tab !)
I didn’t manage to boot from the resscue CD on my virtual machine, but as it runs under VirtualPC (yeah I know, I should move to virtualBox - unless you can find us a nice promo for VMWare) I guess the problem comes from the virtualization layer.
Note that the serial works :
1/ with the french version alike;
2/ even if you enter whatever you want in the name and company fields
If I have more time I will test how long it take to backup my system partition.
But as I’m fully satisfied my Paragon drive backup, which proved dozens of times its reliability on my computers, I’ll stick to this one.
FYI, at maximum compression, PARAGON takes a little less than 2 hours (about 1h40 actually) to turn 26Gb of datas in a 13Gb archive. (XP Pro SP3, CPU 2GHz and only 1Gb RAM)
