UPDATE
Gizmo is not providing any license key so you must follow these steps.
1. First install the application and when you open it for the first time you have to click on “Register this copy” ( see screenshot )

2. Your default browser will then access the promotional page where you must click on techsupportalert.com, of course.

3. On the new Registration Page you will have to create your own account. … And click on “Continue”
( see screenshot below )

4. That’s it ! You’ll just have to wait for the email containing the serial number.

I forgot to send you this one this morning - thanks Jenggot for doing so!
I have downloaded and installed it - got reg code just fine and fast.
This looks like it’s closer to the recent Corel Paint Shop Pro rather than MS Paint.
The layout is similar to Paint, though.
For newbies, if you click on Help -> updates, you’ll get the option to download a bunch of demo movies on how to do things (i’m waiting on them to finish downloading now).
While waiting for them, you can click on Help -> Movies to see what you’ll be given video tutorials on. The actual Help file looks complete with basic info on how to use all of the functions.
All in all looks like a neat little program.
There is also a picture editor modeled after the MS Picture Viewer which allows basic modifications to pictures - red eye removal, contrast changes and such.

SInce JeffV reported getting his serial quickly, I tried registering with a different email account, That did the trick. Registering from Gmail I received a response immediately. Previously, I had registered with Yahoo mail, and still haven’t received anything there.
My immediate impression is that this is a limited version of Xara 3, not 4. As such, the current (brand new) version 5 is quite a bit more advanced. Also, the upgrade offer seems to be for v5, not 4 as stated at Gizmo - but at 49 English pounds, works out to more than the retail price of the full version in Canada.
Finally, on a different topic, I don’t see your “Our Favs” sidebar widget at all. Could my ad blocker be blocking it?

I get an error when registering the program. It doesn’t crash, but after restarting the program, it asks again for serial and registration. Maybe incompatible with windows 7? The program installs in a folder called Xtreme3, so I’m afraid this is an even older version than already mentioned.
Nevertheless, xara is great software.

Thank you for the ‘UPDATE’ section which indeed helped. I registered my copy and got the serial number. I agree with Jeff on the GUI and functionality. Layout is similar to Paint but closer to Corel PSP. Thanks Jeff for the video hints. If 4Free leaves us some time to test the hot finds before they keep presenting us hotfinds, I will test it more

It works on W7 ???
Ahha! Finally a user interface for making vector graphics that is really easy to use, fast and responsive, and bearing good functionality.
I surely haven’t yet played with every feature of the software. Adding and editing basic shapes (rectangles, stars, etc.) is surely easy. You can add, re-size, and rotate all in a single operation just by moving mouse around. Changing color of shapes, morphing them, creating gradient colors in shapes is all very easy.
Also very good and intuitive are two free-hand curve drawing tools. You can for example add points to form an arbitrary smooth curve and adjust the curve readily, and finally make a closed curve if you want.
Even though Paint Shop Pro was mentioned by JeffV in the comments here, above stuff is not easy to do with Paint Shop Pro.
This is certainly a good find.

Hi Guys, it’s nice to see you back and thanks for the freebie although I have seen it on Gizmo first. I just want to inform you and the rest here that the serial/license key given is common/same for all users who registered. Here is the key:

I hope I am not ‘breaking any rules’ by posting the key here. It’s just that I find it much easier for others to use the key rather than go through the registration process…

re: posting serial keys
I wish people would not post serial keys, even for “free” offers. Registering for a license is by no means a hardship. Although the software providers are not charging you for their product, they are accruing value by increasing their registered user base. This is the “price” you pay to enjoy their hard work.
If even a simple registration is too much for you to give, please don’t take the product. This is no different from using a cracked product or pirated serial number. There is plenty of free, no-strings software available all over the interent. There is simply no need or good reason to take something in violation of the owner’s consent.

After some days messing around with this piece of software, I can say I like it. I’m not exactly sure it can compete with leading software in the vectorial drawing field (I’m thinking of Illustrator, or Expression Design). For instance, Expression Design allow you to interact with the xaml code of your drawing, which makes it perfect for RIA integration. Nothing of that kind here…
But is this its goal?
Actually, I found it really user friendly, with very little learning curve. There are many video tutorials making easy to anyone wanting to take full advantage of this software to do so.
I manage to output static drawing as well as animated one : animated GIF or even swf (although I thought I read somewhere pro version was required to swf export…)
So, in a nutshell, maybe not the most powerful in its category, but a very nice tool to have, perfect for the hobbyists and IT enthusiastic.
I really want to insist on the fact that it is really easy to use. It’s a install and go, if I can say so. Really! I must say I’m really impressed by that and I want to congratulate the editing company for its brilliant user experience analysis.
That said, unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll find any use of this one. I want to keep it - one can understand why - but I really have nothing to draw… what’s more, I never had any feeling for art. I’m definitely not an artist, even when provided with great tools… A shame!!!

Have you tried with a different browser , not your default one ? ( keep it open while installing/registration and the installer will probably use it to access registration )

I’ve been using this application since Xara X1 and currently own Xara Xtreme Pro 5.
I agree with Franck, it’s not the most “powerful” vector illustration package available but when it comes to speed and ease of use, I’ve found nothing better.
Though I say not the most powerful this certainly does not mean it is not a capable tool for vector illustration. It does however mean that it may take time and experimentation to figure out how to do certain things for which there is no dedicated tool or function.
Also note that for the most part, Xtreme is strictly a vector illustrator, it’s support for bitmap image manipulation is very limited.
For simple graphics and the avaerage user it certainly suffices without much hassle and for that reason alone it is one of the best vector illustration tools out there. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately, I could not evaluate this special edition. I too am having issues with the registration server; promo dead possibly?

The problem is mentioned over at Gizmpo’s as others are having the same problem with registering the software. Oh well easy come easy go. Apparently everyone gets the same key for the product.

The promotion seems to be expired
I used demo versions of Xara X and it rocks, easy , powerful and light vector graphics program.
Useful to import and export in many graphics format (including SWF).
