I meant, I watch video on my television set, not my computer. I stare at my computer all day in an office chair, I prefer to kick back on the couch for movies.
I can understand if you’re only talking about watching movies and not about record / copy / store / upload on internet , etc …
DivX format keeps a great quality of your personal videos ( or the ones you download from internet ).
All modern home DVD players are also reading DivX .
But I’m sure you were aware about that.

I remember a while back when Divx 5 or 6 was available.
I donloaded and installed it.
I never really used it, but when I upgraded K-Lite Codecs, it said that I was better off uninstalling Divx, so I did.
Uninstalling $15 worth of software just so I could install some freeware codecs.

Hmmm having said that there appears to be a problem downloading the file - at least at this moment (7h after receiving the HF 31 notification email) the link doesn’t seem to be working. The *page* loads, but the link to the download just keeps timing out

Thank you Mayur and 4Free Team. We have missed the hot finds! First I had a problem with downloading. Later I realized that download managers are not supported. Therefore I downloaded the built-in save function of my browser, Firefox!

Ok looks like there were a few problems with the download site, but I finally managed to download the installer! For me the download took over 32 minutes at an average of 7kb/s (painful, especially since I’m used to getting 2-3Mb/s these days :-)).
Given the (possible) timeout problems when accessing the link I recommend other readers use a good download manager to get the file. Personally I use (and strongly recommend) DownThemAll! for Firefox. I was able to just leave it running, with an extended timeout, until it finally managed to download the entire file!

Just for clarification: In my case different download managers (Giganet and Free Download Manager) failed. However this could be only related to my computer. Some others may be successful at downloading with download managers.

Hey 4Free…. I love this. Downloaded and installed fine. The interesting thing for me is that it didn’t ask if I want to install Google Chrome. And the installation is completed, my browser was opened up and there is “an advertisement” for “upgrade to pro”??? I thought I just installed one.

I have always resisted downloading Divx thinking it was just another codec. After reading the comments and your replies about not knowing what you’re missing I’ve taken the plunge. Really, it was a plunge. I had to wait 10 minutes for the download to begin and another 30 for the incredibly slow download to complete. I guess half the known world are after this download as well.

Ok, my problems are solved; downloaded, installed and works fine.
I used Firefox with DownThemAll, setting 1 minute for retry, unlimited attempt to connect and max time to timeout (15 minutes).
The program is very nice, thank you a lot!

Decided to get this just in case.
Didn’t look like Free Download Mgr was getting it, so left it trying and restarted the download, skipped adding it to FDM and let Firefox handle it. Firefox got it after 15 minutes. When I copied it to the same folder FDM uses, it was already there!! Not sure what went on.

It steel need a serial number. I did not received the registration data at the E-mail… For example-if you go to Start->DivX->DivX Codec- here exist “Register Products” and it need a serial number… Where to find this serial?

I have been waiting for the serial number 24 hours so far.
The Serial Number is required to be entered into the Registration Program.
This is accessed via “Start” –> “All Programs” –> “DivX” –> “DivX Codec” –> “Register Products”. All the entries show a status of “Not Registered”

I have just re-downloaded from the link on the computer active page and done a binary compare to verify the version is identical to that which I installed.
I also downloaded the latest DivX Pro direct from DivX, this does not request an email address during the install and give the same “not registered” status
I know that the version I downloaded from the computer active page connected to DivX as I received my “welcome to DivX News” subscription email.
I am wondering if the promotion has ended ?
Have you tried a fresh install lately ?

Are you sure you have uninstalled your previous DivX free version, before installing the Pro one ?

Hi All,
Success last night.
1. Re-Downloaded installer.
2. Uninstalled Old Version.
3. Re-Booted.
4. Cleaned old DivX folder from “C:\Program Files”
5. Installed.
Now shows as registered, guess it might have failed beacuse I already had a version installed.

I’m curious, though–I have a couple of older DVD players (the designs are 3+ years old) in my home theater setup that are DiVX compatible, but are any hardware manufacturers still making home theater equipment that recognizes DiVX?
I would love to hear from some other users in our community on this topic, if it would be appropriate to discuss here.

Well coming to the Divx - Home theater topic, i think most of
the Home theaters support Divx and its not gone any where.
Its still in use. Now-a-days every home theater supports
playing movie/files through USB and in that way it should
support Divx too. So i think Divx is here to stay ! And the
home theater manufactures still support it. Its my opinion.
There is no mention of Windows 7 in the description. Did anyone try whether this works on W7?
