Hey guys. I received my key this morning. As soon as i go home from work i will install it and play some time with it and then i will post my opinion about it :o)
I hope it is better than v5.. I heard so much negavite comments about it i was not tempted to install it at all. Not even in a Virtual Machine..!!!

got it. Installed without any problem. Tested and it is very good. Will become my pdf of choise! The only problem it seems I’m having with pdf files is choosing the default program for opening this kind of files. For some reason I cannot fix this and every time I try to open pdf’s I have problems because windows do not know which program should open them, no matter what I do. Does anybody knows how to fix this?

I registered my copy of Nitro PDF Professional 6 and received my offer and key for ARTS PDF Workshop. I hope it works with Vista. Their site only listed works with 98/2000/ME/XP. I’ll let you know if I have any problems.

1/ If you check NitroPdf as default pdf reader, that doesn’t work?
(”n” round button at the upper left corner, preference button at the botton of the menu, tab general, you’ll find the option)
2/ Maybe you could use nirsoft filetypeman to check what’s going on with the .pdf extension (use find .pdf to go straight to it).
They should appear as NitroPdf document with two associated actions (open and edit, see lower pane)
(quite weirdly, filetypeman says : open, by default action : no, whereas open is actually the choice by default in my windows… weird…. but nothing to do with your problem as I can see that the open action linked with .pdf files implies nitropdf… so windows knows what program to use…)
I didn’t get my key, although I was able to download the program.
I did notice that I was already registered for the site, so maybe that is why i was unable to get a key.

I am very pleasantly surprised with Nitro’s converter, WORD to PDF; it is so good it is (almost?) impossible to see any difference!

Thouhg I didn’t get this by choice, I just read sth at Raymong’s Forum that might be of interest to those who got their license key and did not notice it in the EULA.

Your problem might be a file-type association issue. Check in “Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types” if the file extension .pdf is associated with any program/ app. If not, add Nitro PDF to do the job.

Then go the part which says how to grab, and look for the link to bnet registration page and click there and hey presto. That’s how i did it. I registered and then i was told i would receive the key “within 7 days”

The promotion is certainly outdated.
Another one will certainly occur, sooner or later.
Received the key, but nowhere to entry it for the nitro_pdf_professional_32.exe (the UPS one), and ended with [License access failure 1.] error,
use the key registered on site and create account, download installer nitro_pdf_professional6.exe, still same error.
use Revo uninstaller everytime make sure all residue clean, tried 4 times all error.
does anyone have this problem ?

Hi! Thanks for letting everyone know about this great promotion. It didn’t last long. I was lucky and got my key.
I’ve been a user of ver 5 for almost a year and have been VERY HAPPY with it’s editing abilities. Very nice. Version 5 was a bit slow in creating PDFs but ver 6 promises a Big increas in speed. (Haven’t had a chance to test it yet.)
However, I would suggest everyone to get novaPDF (it’s only a pdf printer, but it does it very, very well and extremely FAST) if a promotion happens again.

@Franck - before I posted my problem, I’ve tried 26Dolphins suggestion but it did not work. pdf was not even listed as a file type.
I could open pdf files with “open with” on right click or just clicking on the file and after windows told me it could not find any program to open the file I would look for Nitro, informed that from now on all this type of files would use it and run it.
At that time file association would show up. On next computer rebooting this was all lost. So I looked at Nitro’s preferences and did what you said. And it worked. Now it’s all fine and happy.
The only thing I am not liking very much about Nitro is it’s loading time. It take about 40 seconds to load any pdf on my 3 Gb Vista AMD Turion 64 X2 2.2, while PDF eXChange loads the same file in less than 10 seconds.
Do you know some tweaking on Nitro’s preferences to improve this?

@wc - you have scripts or something blocked in your browser - you need to allow them so the install can call home and do what it needs to do to activate the license. I had same problem.
Didn’t send confirmation e-mail until a week later and the next day received the key.

Hi !
I got my license keys and installed the Nitro PDF Pro 6. However after installation, whenever I tried to run it I got a weird error message before activation window popped up. It was a very generic error message. Therefore I uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail. Then I searched the internet for the error message and I found out that it would happen if the Windows Event Logger Service does not run. It was true but when I tried to run I got another error message:
“Windows could not start the Windows event log service on Local Computer.
Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider.”
After long searching (I looked often here as well to see if someone else had the same problem but there was no one.), I found a msdn page giving a solution. This problem has nothing to do with directly with Nitro but it can be a pain for you one day. I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2. So, I wanted to share with you the page:
