Update : Sorry ! We’ve told you we have too much to work.
According to Franck : “not the latest build but once installed the program offers free upgrade.”
… But Murphy is saying: “Do not update to version ,,1.9.1.606,, . The license will block.”
.
Hi friends !
Franck is sharing with all 4Free’ers this (very) Hot Find !
We have the occasion to add another top-notch software on the 4Free long list … And another system utilities set of tools, to the impressive 4Free portfolio: WinSysClean 2009, Webroot Window Washer 6.5, Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2010 , All Zonelink SystemUp Utilities 2009 ( 7 ), TuneUp Utilities 2008, Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009 , RegistryMechanic7 , Webroot Window Washer 6.5, DesktopMaestro2 (PC Tools), Ashampoo WinOptimizer 5 , VCOM Fix-It Utilities 7, Ashampoo WinOptimizer 4, TuneUp Utilities 2007
jv16 PowerTools 2009 from Macecraft Software is one of the most acclaimed system utilities set of tools.
jv16 PowerTools 2009 is a Windows system utility suite which allows you to clean, optimize and repair your system with ease. The program offers a range of advanced tools that provide a safe yet powerful way of getting ”under the hood” of your computer.
.
.
jv16 PowerTools 2009 is a true example of a very user-friendly computer application. It allows you to use the program in your own language (not only in English). You can control the product with only your mouse and/or your keyboard, it’s up to you. It also contains full, printable documentation.
The user friendliness is not something that only affects the user interface. The product doesn’t
integrate itself with your system without your permission. It doesn’t connect to the Internet without your permission. It doesn’t modify your system’s configuration or fill up the C:\Windows\System32 directory with its files.
.
.
Key Features
* Automatically clean your Windows registry from obsolete and unneeded data
* Automatically fix many kinds of registry errors, such as broken file references
* Easily uninstall leftover traces of software you have thought you have already uninstalled ages ago
* Detect and remove unneeded history data and MRU (most recently used) lists that can contain sensitive information about you
* Locate and delete unneeded files, including temp files and duplicate files
* And over 27 tools more!
.
.
Minimum system requirements
• Any computer running 2000, XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Vista or
Windows 7.
• Mouse or keyboard
.
.
How to grab jv16 PowerTools 2009 ?
This is a “Spezial-Version (kostenlos)” for the readers of the famous German site Computerbild.de. don’t worry the installer comes in English and you will have the possibility to install the application in English or in many other languages ( see screenshot )
1. Go and download the 5,9 MB zipped installer HERE.
2. When you unzipp the installer you will find a “license.xbin” file, beside the normal setup file.
3. Install the app by running the installer.
4. To register open the installed application and go to Help/License Information ( see screenshot below ).
In the new window select “Install new license”. You will be asked to browse and choose a file. Of course you must select the “license.xbin” file, located in the unzipped “jv16powertools” file.
That’s it ! You will be asked to restart the application and you will be able to see the software is now registered. ( see screenshot below )
We are now owners of a up-to-five-computers license for jv16 PowerTools 2009 !
Thank you Franck !
Enjoy everyone !

I try to upgrade to latest version once installed. Once updated to latest version, it say license file is Stolen or not valid!!!
“Stolen” is nonsense ( from their part )
Finally is kind of logical to only accept the key for the special version.

are there any alternative link? thanks!
So you can see computerbild site … But you cannot download ?
Am I right ?
If yes it must be your IP Have you tried it with a proxy ?
I can confirm Murphy’s statement. He is perfecltly right. As a matter of fact, I posted an errata yesterday telling you the key is blacklisted if jv16 powertools 2009 is upgraded but it seems there was a little micmac in the comment validation…
)
(as you made this errata public…
So 4freers would be advised to turn auto-check for updates off.
(Settings => network functionalities tab; it’s at the bottom of the window. Resize it if you can’t see it!)
Please take into good consideration the fact that there could be Potential problem in jv16 PowerTools 2009
You’ll find on the aforelinked page the description of the problem and a way to configure the program to avoid it.
That’s mainly this problem that is fixed in the last build of jv16 powertools 2009.
As macecraft stated, this last release will probably be the last one before jv16 powertools 2010 being launched.
Given that there is this little problem, although rare and fixable with a workaround, it doesn’t seem to me a wize idea from macecraft to prevent the update to the latest build…
The web buzz there will be could turn out to be bad communication for them… and that wouldn’t pay justice to their program.
I have no time right now. Hopefully I’ll post more later.
Just a word: usually I don’t bother with system optimizers. I heard very good reviews of this one, so I was quite eager to try. That’s point 1.
Point 2 : I like the fact that it doesn’t claim to fix everything in a one-click process. To me it sounds more like a tech tools twisted to be user-friendly than a “get a 300% faster computer within seconds” program…
I hope I can post later a deeper feedback.
I also hope to read useful and complete feedbacks from others friends…
This is the first time that I have seen this utility tool & it looks great . downloaded, installed & registered with no problems.
However the program tell me that there is an update available & once it is installed it invalidates the ‘license.xbin’ file. It says that the license has either been canceled or stolen! So it looks like ‘ComputerBild’ has pulled out of this offer or it is only valid for just the ‘jv16 PowerTools 2009 1.9.0.590′ version & not any other future updates.
I uninstalled & reinstalled with the 1.9.0.590 version & it license works, so my advice is not to update if you want to keep this program.
Thanks 4Free & Franck.
All the best,
dingo
I can confirm too. The update blocks the license.

Hello 4Free Team!
This is an EXCELLENT find and congratulations! I’m sure this utility will “fly off the shelf” for Christmas! I currently have a lifetime license for JV16 and have been using this program for a number of years now. It is literally a powerhouse of programs.
The software is not as flashy as other products on the market, but it does its job and does it very well. I think its two biggest features are its registry manager/cleaner and software uninstaller.
If you’re careful in what you are doing (i.e., and not too aggressive with your registry entries), it can improve the efficiency of your registry.
Another big feature is the software uninstaller, which seems to be able to COMPLETELY remove software and remnants of software that other uninstallers are not able to detect with their initial scans.
I know that people will enjoy this piece of software and it will become a regular part of their computer maintenance!
Best wishes.

Thank you for the fast feedback !
JV16 Tools is a great utility software which offers more control over your tuning compared to the popular freeware products.Obviously there is still a danger when deleting registry files, but this is one of the best tools to do the job.Used to be freeware in the past but then went shareware a few years ago.
Thanks Franck for this offer and I would recommend anyone who wants a utility kit to download this one while it is still available.
PS.Download was working at 14:00 CET. I haven’t tried the auto update as I usually keep them switched off in my programs, though looking at the above comments it seems it would be best to keep them off for now.
Pass, thanks. With so many competing products in this field, it seems they’ll all be free sooner or later.
Excellent. and Yes I will not upgarde.

Hi guys…
Cool tools ! Everything is so impressive…
Way to go Franck…!
Great find team! I’ve seen and heard very good things about this software for years but never had the opportunity to try it out.
Download, installation and application of license all went very smoothly. (Remember to ignore update for license to work.)
Looking forward to putting this through its paces this weekend.
Thanks very much.
Now this one IS worth getting!
Fred Langa, whom I nominate as the best computer tech journalist anywhere, did a survey of several programs in the “registry cleaner” category. He demonstrated that many of them were outright frauds. JV16 PowerTools was unmatched in its ability to SAFELY find and fix registry problems. His article on this is a few years old, but still has merit. Read it here: http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=171203805.
I have heard about this program before and heard very good reviews but never had a chance to use it. Many many thanks guys

Thanks Franck&Team !
My interest in this product was in comparing its registry cleaning capability to what I currently use (CCleaner). The Macecraft web site has an “In-Depth Review of 31 The Most Popular Registry Cleaner Products” (www.macecraft.com/registry_cleaner_comparison2/) that compares their product to many others (including CCleaner).
As you might think, depending on a company’s own comparison to its competitors’ products has its issues. It’s no surprise that jv16 2009 came out on top by a wide margin (they got to design the test registry entries, after all), but take from that what you will.
Without doing my own technical analysis, what jumped right out at me was the reported registry scan time for CCleaner of 7 sec. I’ve used CCleaner for the past couple of years about once a month to scan my registry, and I’ve never seen a registry scan complete in under 30 seconds. My suspicion is that the variable between Macecraft’s test and my own use may be in the options that were selected for the registry scan (I have all CCleaner scan options enabled). That leads me to doubt the usefulness of their test, particularly since I’ve seen CCleaner catch the very kind of “file path error” issues that they used to populate their test registry. They reported that CCleaner found 0 (zero) of the problem entries–that sounds impossible to me unless they didn’t have that particular option enabled in CCleaner when they ran their test.
None of this is a commentary on the functionality of jv16 itself, just a caution to not to put too much stock into Macecraft’s product comparison if you, like I, considered using it to decide whether to switch to their product from something else that you’re currently using.

WOW, I had given up on being able to get JV16 tools since I don’t like using a credit card on the internet. Well, you just made my Christmas!
I remember when JV16 had a free registry cleaner, and then his powertools on his own site before going to Macecraft. His registry cleaner was the only one I would use because of the attention to the safety warnings (for novices), and it never caused any problems with the computer….and now I also have the powertools with the registry cleaner….Wow!
My computer has not only been freshly cleaned, but has that just scrubbed clean glow! It even loads a little faster, and you can use CCleaner with it to clean other things.
I have used Winoptimizer, WinUtilities, and TuneUp Utilities to clean the registry, for privacy and for other file cleaning and JV16 Powertools always does better, and always warns you before you do something dangerous.
An excellent program with a small size that is easy and safe to use. A keeper!

What can I say ,this is a top notch software that I have read about in the past.
Read many positive reviews and feed backs about this program.Who would have thought that it would be available here.
Thanks Franck & for free staff .Made me very happy today.
Downloaded and installed without a hitch on my XP machine and my Vista 64 machine.
I’ll have to give this a try. I haven’t used this type of program since Norton stopped making Cleansweep.
Some programs still add registry entries which don’t branch off from the software maker’s registry folder. I assume it makes it a little bit more difficult for someone to tamper with the program if everything is spread out. Always create a backup of any keys before deleting them. That invalid link may contain an activation code or required entry for one of your programs to work. This can also apply to dll’s.
Three points for Franck. Oops, sorry, that’s not my job.
1 point
Hi !
I have been using jvPowerTools since it was freeware.
It has got better & better but can occasionally bork your Registry if you are not careful.
Fortunately you can easily restore deleted entries if things go wrong.
Remember either to make a back up either using the program itself (it offers to do this before you delete the entries - give it a name you’ll remember! ) or use ERUNT.
IMHO it’s the best registry cleaner to get rid of stubborn programs that do not delete completely.
I still prefer CCleaner & TuneUp utilities for ‘everyday’ cleaning but jvPT is a useful addition to your armory. The license is also good for up to 3 PCs!
Thanks

Hi,
First, thanks to Franck for the find & advice.
A few mths back, I read a couple of very positive reviews on this - sorry, can’t recall where.
A lot of comments focus on the Registry Tools/ Cleaner of this HF & compare it to CCleaner - I find it a bit unfair, as CCleaner is just a scanner & fixer (jv16’s has many more functions).
I stopped using CCleaner’s registry tool, as it managed to cause some trouble there (still haven’t figured out why, given that I had not changed any settings and I always check what’s been ticked to be fixed).
I’m now using Eusing (free) Registry Cleaner & Defrag (they’re 2 seperate apps). During the 1,5 mth i’m using them, both work nice on my system & I’ve come to like them a lot. Needless to say, I always backup.
I think Registry Tools, like Defrag Apps, are not the kind of app you’d do a lot of experimenting with - if you’re comfortable with sth & it works, it’s a bit risky trying out new staff.
Still, I’d like to check out this HF.
Cheers.
P.S. Just got word from a friend that our HF made it on 4Free’s … “favorite” boy’s site - and guess what, 4Free got credit for it.

Hi !
I have been using ‘yamicsoft vista manager’ for a long time ( very good & safest registry cleaner I have yet used )
like others here, I have heard good things about this jv16 so i will look forward to trying out.
Thanks 4free & Franck
The last time I used PowerTools before today was with version 1.3.0.195 (the last uncrippled Freeware version) and I liked it at the time.
Since I could not afford to upgrade to paid versions at that time (Divorce, taking care of my Daughter and life in general), I slowly drifted away from it and eventually replaced it with the free version of Glary utilities.
So this find from Franck makes me come back full circle!
I may not be Australian but Franck, you just made me feel like a boomerang (albeit a shinier, spiffier version) as you brought me back to some of the happy souvenirs from that long ago time.
Thanks Man!
Let’s go back to being “seriously” serious here, after install, it checked my system and gave a 100% clean bill of health in both PC & Registry areas.
That is not surprising as I maintain a tight ship on my computer (being a Virgo and all !)
No, I am not a “maniac”, I am not “Paranoid” and no, I am not “obsessive/compulsive”, I just have some years of experience with computers (it started in 1983 with those old terminals) and I know that Murphy’s Law can jump you when you least expect it. LOL
Still, going back to that “seriously” serious talk, be careful with that program (as you should be with all others of this kind) because you “might” accidentally overdo things and blow your system to smithereens (Even the creators of the program say it in the axe comparison, check the http://for-free-on-internet.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/jv16-powertools-2009-welcome2.png link to see for yourselves).
Franck, thanks also for the warning about the potential problem in the Registry Cleaner feature and the posted workaround on their site.
Their comparison is indeed to be taken with a grain of salt ( do you believe they would actually say something negative about themselves? )
It’s seriously (again that word) time I go to bed as I am starting to feel as nutty as I sound!

I don’t know why but when I ran the Registry Cleaner it kinda screwed with the Folder associations. All, my folder shortcut links showed this error when clicked:
“This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.”
Although, I can’t confirm that it was the software but, well, my PC had been running fine since this morning and this happened instantly after I did the registry cleaning thingy. I even scanned the PC for viruses.
But, nevermind, I’m not complaining. If anyone else gets this error go here and download the Folder Associations fix and run it:

i have been a faithful user of ashampoo winoptimizer and i’m quite comfortable with their products. but this HF is really tempting so i gave it a try.
found several hundreds registry errors that somehow escaped ashampoo, my pc ran a bit faster, especially the boot up time, after applying their system optimizer, registry cleaner, registry compactor.
so far, so good. but, there is a big but, i don’t know if its related, but i cant start yahoo messenger after this. i cant pinpoint exactly what caused this problem, but a little search over the net reveals that it is a visual studio 2005 runtime error.
i was able to fix the issue by reinstalling the visual studio 2005 runtime package and dotnetfx framework. its a little inconvenient, but i cant really tell if its caused by jv16 powertools too aggressive registry cleanup.
it pays to take caution, though..
anyway, great find, my computer is more responsive, much faster, though im not sure if all the programs that i have accumulated for four years will still run without errors. just keeping my fingers crossed……….
Re:kate28
You can change the aggression of the reg cleaner by moving the slider, the top of the scale being the safest.Always agree to back up when asked to do so by the cleaner, then if something does go wrong you can restore your registry by going to the tools menu via the ‘registry manager’ and choosing ‘back up tool.’
I always back up when editing the registry in any way then if something does go wrong,it should be easy to put things right.By the way,I am never tempted to put the slider on the most aggressive setting though if I did,I would double check the entries.
If in doubt,leave it be.
I hope I haven’t been too forthright with these comments, but I have heard so many stories of people wrecking their systems from running programs aggressively.
I’ve been expecting this ! Thanks

Hi !
I used to be a staunch fan of the last freeware version of this product. Glad to see it here as a Hotfind. I just reinstalled my OS, so I can’t really comment on how well this will work but I highly recommend it, having seen many reviews online.
As with any registry cleaner, caution is advised and back up your system/registry before using any such tool. Thanks to Franck and 4 free team for this excellent find.
@ricky
i took everything by default, though its my fault i didn’t make a backup before cleaning the registry. and as a precaution, i even add ‘/folder/’ and ‘/drive/’ in the exclusion list. anyway, some lessons are really meant to be learned the hard way. i learned my lesson though, and i still give a heads up to jv16powertools. they really did make my pc faster and more responsive, even after using tuneup 2009 and winoptimizer here.
its really a good product, don’t let my experience be a hindrance to an otherwise impressive product.
thanks ricky, and of course, 4Free.
life has been much better since you were around.
JV16 power tools has always made a backup by default or anything it does to the registry. Unless it’s been changed. When you think they may have been too agresive in their cleaning, just find the backup tab, find the registry backup file in the list and tell them to put it back. Foolproof, but even I forget sometimes.
Reboot. If the problem went away, you may have to exclude certain entries from being cleaned, or put it in a less aggressive mode.

WARNING! BEWARE!
I would like to warn anyone from using this particular version. Don’t get me wrong, jv16 Powertools is a usually excellent program but after a reboot and a registry clean, many permissions are changed. You will also notice your usual sounds in Windows to be corrupted. The fix did not work for me.

Hi !
Real life comes first, of course !
I’m glad it was useful to many…
Paul, we got more or less the same results… After a single pass of the registry cleaner with the less agressive settings, I’m at 100%/100% on my desktop and 100%/99% on my laptop…
I really like this program. I’ve been using version 1.3 for years and it’s been one of my most trusted utilities. I hope this newer version proves to be as reliable.
Thanks,

Hi everyone,
I know this is a bit … too late to post another comment here, but only today I got some time to look at this a bit closer, meaning I took the time to read a bit through the handbook (quite detailed & with good standing out warnings about potential mess ups by the user) and go through its settings, features and so on.
It looks really impressive, has a lot of features I’ve not seen in other similar apps (maybe lucking some of others, but that’s not always a bad thing).
I run the Quick System Analysis and have one complain: though it states that this procedure does not use the internet, the moment it started running, OA cofirmed its connection to 209.188.85.133 - guess who that is: it’s home, of course. What purpose for? Beats me.
The analysis resulted in 100% healthy system & registry, so I haven’t run any of its tools yet.
Three interesting things about the license:
1. The license is for up to 5 PCs (home users).
2. One can sell his/ her license at any price to anyone else, giving up his/ her full rights.
3. One can sell a printed version of the handbook as long as the charge corresponds only to the cost of printings.
I think I’ll come back to this when I “test” it for real.
Cheers.

@26Dolphins
The home call is to check the online support availability. I think I read that in the handbook (look pp 17&18, especially the very bottom of p.18).
Maybe you can go to the settings window, network tab, and untick “automatically check for online support”.
Does it stil call home at each and every startup ?
@Franck
Thanks for your extra input, but mabe I wasn’t clear enough.
I read about the online support thing and have no problem with it - actually, even though I have that on automatically check, it does not call home at every startup (OA doesn’t report anything, though I’ve not added jv16 to the trusted progs yet).
My “issue” is related to the Quick System Analysis. Just before you agree on going through this, it clearly states that this does not use the Internet. But the moment I started the procedure, it called home and in the detailed notes at the bottom, no entry clarified the reason.
No big deal I guess, just found the inconsistency between statements & actions a bit disturbing.
On the other hand, as already said, I have yet to properly play around with it.
Thanks again.
Finally got my laptop fixed a week ago (the first repair crashed after a few days). Seems to work good now, though my motherboard had to be downgraded from an HP Pavilion to a Compaq. So have been playing catchup ever since. You guys have done A LOT in the past 6 months.
Thanks to you and Franck (and Murphy for the upgrade input). I use and like RegCleaner, the predecessor to this, and have always been curious about the Suite. (the link still worked fine as of Dec 24).
Still open…
Got it for my father’s notebook.
Before I download this one. Is it better than “WinUtilities”?
There are already a few comments where friends share their feedback about the quality of jv16 PowerTools.
It’s not easy to compare, especially in the system utilities software case. It depends on the features you’re interested more. This apps usually claim to do the same things, with very little differences of the final results.
The best way to find out is to try yourself both apps, isn’t it ?
We always advice our readers to try themselves the apps that looks interesting. If you respect the general “Before Installing a new application ” recommendations in our sidebar … You can try any application and decide yourself if you keep it or not.
In this specific case, where features are almost identical, the “easy-to-use” and “built-in backup and undo” features are mandatory, of course.
But I’m just curious why do you ask about WinUtilities and not Glary Utilities, Ashampoo WinOptimizer, etc …
I know WinUtilities - which is like in a permanent promotion - is the “specialty” of a fake reviewer, a teenager who’s fooling everybody around by talking like an adult.
I hope you’re not looking for stupid conclusions from this kind of hilarious “reviewers”.
