O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition - 4 Free

Hi friends !

Just a short heads-up on the promotion for Glary Utilities Pro : there are 200+ comments awaiting moderation and,  we imagine, a few others to come.

… So please be patient untill tomorrow evening in order to have the hole picture. Our old friends already know we always keep our promises.Thank you !

Since we have already informed we have to keep the 4Free BestS releasing  rhythm …  We take this opportunity to publish 4Free BestS - Best Disk De-fragmenting Software .

This new survey is not mandatory for the Glary promotion … But don’t forget we have announced the 30 new gifts on Claim Your Software Gift ( step 2 ) … And we’re preparing other goodies. So please keep taking all 4Free BestS Surveys when you find the necessarry free minutes. We’ve got very serious tyhings to do together !

Beside the 4Free BestS , now we all have 4Free-Community.com where your contributions - feedback on so many software solutions -  can be seen much better than in the Comment section of the “old 4Free”.

Now here’s another goodie from Seb : O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition !

Let’s review the 4Free portfolio for O&O products: O@O Disk Image 3,5 Pro, O&O SafeErase 3, CleverCache 6 Professional, O&O SafeErase 2, O&O DriveLED 2 and O&O UnErase 2

Regarding this defragmenter , the well-known developer has recently released O&O Defrag 12 Pro ( worth EUR 49.90 ) so we were waiting for this promotion to appear.

The new versions has new features like :

Fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7,Vista, and XPNew
Zone filing for optimal organization of filesNew
Three additional defragmentation methods (eight methods in all)New
Improved: even better at eliminating high levels of fragmentationO&O Defrag 10 solves the performance and stability problems of Windows workstations and servers caused by fragmented hard disks … etc …

… But Vista and XP users should certainly be happy with the today’s O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition !

O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition is a disk-defragmentation tool that runs on the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows XP, as well as Windows 2000 Professional.
O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition offers five defragmentation methods, including a Stealth method and a Space method.

Fragmentation is the main cause of significant losses in performance in Windows. Due to the fact that the hard disk is the slowest component of a computer, its optimization is an especially important issue.

By using O&O Defrag 10, files can be read and written much more quickly. What at first seems to be lost performance can easily be rediscovered and realized again with O&O Defrag 10, giving you the peace of mind that your hardware is in good health and operating optimally. New technological developments also ensure you are getting the best efficiency at the lowest cost.

This is a great 4free giveaway!
I have version 4 up and running on my PC and my disks are allways in shape. It runs as a service so you don’t really need to watch for fragmented disks, but if you want you can manually defrag your disks also.

    Thanks a lot guys!

I’m sure that this is an excellent progam, but I will pass. For defragging, I use “My Defrag” (www.mydefrag.com). It’s freeware, so I don’t need to fiddle with licences. But even more, it comes with the highest recommendation from our friends at http://www.techsupportalert.com.

    Hi Guys,

Don’t you ever take a break? lol Thanks go to you and Seb for this promotion. Even though I have Win 7 I’m downloading this one. As far as I know almost everything compatible with Vista will run in Win 7. If it doesn’t try compatibility mode. That usually works as it does for XP oriented software.

Take care and have a good day.

This is the best defragmentation tool ever, i think. Thank you very much 4Free! Just registered and downloaded its 32bit version installer. As i write this comment, its defragmenting my disk, so nicely! :)

I have been using it since O&O Defrag 8 and it feels very good to have a Pro license for v10 Pro. Since i’ve been using the trial version every time, this is a very nice gift for me and for us, 4Free’ers!

My second alternative for defragmentation purposes is Disc Defragmentation tool of TuneUP 2009, which is another one of your gifts for 4Free’ers.

    Thanks!

I just upgrade from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. It seems Windows 7 has a very nice defrag tool, which can defrag more than one drive at the same time now. And the defraging speed is well improved as well.

Wow, great software and another nice suprise for the holidays! Great job by the 4 Free Team!
I’ve typically used reliable freeware for this purpose — Iobit SmartDefrag — or defrag programs included as part of larger software suites (like Iolo).
This is the first time I’ve used shareware designed exclusively for the purpose of defragmentation, and I have to say that I like all of the features that it has to offer!
Nice extras include the status report, the clusterinspector, and an extensive help file for working your way through the software’s various features.

I don’t need this software because there are many all in one system utilities that offer disk defragment like tuneup utilites, speedupmypc, etc.
It is not wise if I will use O&O Defrag 10 Professional Edition along with any free all in one system utilities. It adds an extra amount of disk space which can slow down your pc.

DL and installed with out a problem…
Great software from great company, but there are few things and uninstalled.
    - online help only
    - can’t shut down after defragment is done, only at scheduled job under tuning, power management.
    - Its took one and a half hour at my pc doing complete/access defragmention in my 160 GB disk with half of it was an empty space. Maybe that was ok for the first job done but I was looking a great improvement for such a long defraging  time and I can’t found any different from my usual defrag (my defrag from iobit).

I have just tried out O&O Defrag .It is not as quick as some of the freeware defragment software which can be suspiciously too fast.
Anyway, contrary to one post,I consider O&O software to be of a high standard and not at all ‘crap.’I have never had a problem with any of their software and with all the extras, I may even consider using O&O Defrag over MyDefrag which has long been a favourite of mine.

I let O&O Defrag run overnight on my 60GB laptop (Thinkpad T40) HDD, in Complete/Name mode. When it finished, it reported that it had changed my 7% fragmented drive to 25% fragmented!!

I also can’t find a way to make it STOP defragmenting in the background, which isn’t my favorite. (I’ve already got Avira AntiVir and Windows Update and too many other things slowing me down in the background!) Right or left clicking on the taskbar icon does nothing, and I can’t see an Option that tells it to Exit completely and go away until next time. (I crashed it with AnVir Task Manager — I hope I didn’t corrupt a file that was being defrag’d.)

There may be speed benefits from the disk reorganization, but the added fragmentation may negate that! What’s going on? (BTW, I’ve got about 7GB free, so I don’t think that’s the problem.)

Firstly, regarding the comment mislead others is a strong word to use.
At no time did I tell anyone not to use the application. All I said was there are compatibility issues with Windows7. My friend who has a licensed version10 on his XP , upgraded to Windows7 and installed version10 of O&O Defrag on to it, experienced problems with it. It will run and finished it’s job but fragmentation remains.
So in the end he upgraded his version of O&O Defrag to version 12 at a discount and everything is great.
I have no problems with O&O softwares whatsoever. In fact I have use their applications in the past and is quite happy with them.
Enough said. Have a happy holiday.

Thank you guys, like others I have been using iobit smart defrag but am very interested to try this program. OK, last night I ran Defraggler (an excellent and free modern-but-basic file-based degrag utility), which managed to degrag virtually all my files — all but 3, much less than 1% of the total.

So now I think I have the benefit of O&O’s file reorganization (and a choice of several KINDS of organization), but also with excellent low fragmentation levels, which O&O Defrag did not deliver, at least on my computer.

The combo of the two programs seems to work, though I’m not sure if it’s any better than Auslogics Disk Defrag or Iobit’s Smart Defrag, which also reorganize files but also achieve decent defragmentation levels. (Unless my computer suddenly seems faster than the wind, I don’t expect to post again on this subject!)

(* sorry for the above, i accidentally pressed control-enter*)

I’m really a defragger fan, i have since added defragging in my maintenance routine since Norton Utilities for DOS times.. Defragging works great in DOS era, and even more so in Windows XP, since Windows tends to just thrash up your hard drive, unlike Linux..

anyway, i downloaded this HotFind, and to my surprise, my already defragged drive, was able to be defrag by O&O further. and with great results, increase in performance is really noticeable, especially the loading of my system trays utilities. believe me, i have lots of it.

and this is good too, if you are using your drive as a localhost, or an internal webserver.

this O&O product is highly commendable! thanks 4free!

Well, I’ve installed this a couple of days ago and DON’T recommend this! I made a complete access defrag of PC and left OO running in the background. Results: PC slowed down to a crawl, MS Office not working anymore double boot time, freezes…Horrible! Uninstalled, back to my well known freeware favorite and things got back to normal .
BTW, I’m always astounded by people able to give a review of such a software just a few hours after download! I think it takes a few DAYS to have an idea of what a defrag prog. is worth… Happy New Year to all

    @normofthenorth

If you want to turn off auto defrag, just click on the ‘deactivate one button defrag’ button under options. You probably also have it running on your start up programs. To disable it you will need to go into ‘run’ and type msconfig choose the ’start up’ tab and untick the programs you do not want to start up.Alternatively, you could get a program like Glary Utilities or CCleaner that have ’start up managers.’ Hope this helps.

Thank you, installed and working fine on my XP.
A good program, but when defragmenting all us should set the right options to avoid problems!
This type of program can make deep modification on the computer, so pay attention setting only that you want, trying it before using too invasive options.
For example, defragment only files, and if it’s all right, try others options involving all the computer structure.
Personally, I don’t make and I don’t recommend too complex operations. It’s only my opinion…
