As I suspected the multicore optimizer only works on older CPU’s (X86 architectures) and, alas my CPU is a 64 bit, but never fear X64 CPU users, there is a way to obtain the same results that the program will do without any additional software, all you have to do is launch the windows task-manger, click on the process tab, choose which process you wish to work with and right click on it, choose the option ‘Chose affinity’ then choose from the box that appears which CPU (core) you wish to have the process run on. Now I have never had a need to do this because Windows seems to be able to balance the load just fine on its own (something the MS got right!) but if you are so inclined to adjust or ‘tweak’ it, it is possible to do!
One other thing for AMD Phenom users: there is a program out that disables the TLB fix (multi core support in Windows) read about it here:

Thanks Team, but i think i’ll skip this offer for the multicore optimizer cos i use ashampoo’s core tuner and power up 3, although they can only support 4 cores and zonelink’s can handle 8(Wow 8 cores)). As for the other repeat offers….well i took them the first time,lol.

Thank you Seb, this is a nice update! I had grabbed the ZoneLink software pack on 9th of November; nice group of software. And now, MultiCore Optimizer is added to that promotion pack, really nice.
I have registered and received my license key for MultiCore optimizer a few minutes ago; installed and tried. I can say that it’s an effective software having a really nice GUI.

I also grabbed SystemUp 2009 Tuning on the last promo, and I was impressed with the feature set, and professional GUI. So I thought I’d try the MultiCore Optimizer. Have already tried the Ashampoo prog, but wasn’t that impressed (can’t remember why). The ZoneLink Multicore looks good, and everything is easy to find. Unfortunately there’s not much documentation. Here’s what I did. Ran a group of applications that are CPU intensive (like video processing). Where possible I assigned a ‘different’ core to each process. You can do this in the ‘process tab’. Some progs are designed to run ‘multicore’, and if you untick their cores, they automatically become ticked again. You can then save a rule for that process in the ‘rules’ tab. I’ve yet to test to see how effectively this works. Any more ideas from other users? Thanks for the freebie.
